Default Creating the 'Overview of WarmaHordes Armies' thread

So, since we have one for Fantasy and WH40k, I figured why not Warmahordes, this isn't hard fact, it's my experiance, which isn't inconsiderable.

So we shall begin with the Armies of Warmachine, the game of Steam powered Combat!

Cygnar- A powerful nation beset on all sides by enemies, Cygnar is the most technologically advanced of all of the Iron Kingdoms, boasting a formidable control of Electrical energies.

Warcasters- Cygnar boats some of the most competitive (in this overview a synonym for powerful or best) warcaster's in the game. Haley in either form, Caine, and Stryker as the fronting three powerhouses.

A Brief overview of casters-

Haley- Prime Haley is a powerful warcaster, with a healthy focus stat, and a powerful spell list, Her feat takes excellent advantage of Cygnar's powerful ranged ability, granting additional shots outside of activation, if inside her control area.

Haley also possesses the abillity to nullify an enemy spell that targets her or a model within 3' of her, by spending a focus point.

Fun Fact- Because these shots occur outside of the model's activation it does not benefit from abilities such as; Strafe,multi-fire, powerful shot, etc.

Epic Haley- With a amazing focus stat and possibly the BEST feat in the game, Haley is must take for many competitive players, with a large spell list she also has a spell for every occasion, focusing on improving the ranged abilities or speed of her jacks (see the Jack bullet tactic)

She has a warjack bond as is common with many epic casters, and the ability to steal enemy spells, she is Cygnar's foremost arcane master.

Prime Stryker- Prime Stryker is solid Warcaster for every Occasion, with a higher than everage MAT (while by no means amazing, it will get the job done) and a feat that will make your opponent rip his hair out, as your trenchers and long gunners become as tough as warjacks!

His spell list is "average" Buffs, and damaging spells. One spell does stand out however, Earthquake, the ability to knockdown a 5' AOE worth of enemies is priceless, and has carried many games.

He has a average ranged weapon, with disruption, and an average (for a warcaster) power weapon with disruption as well. Stryker is a reliable caster, who can get the job done.

Epic Stryker- Is a powerhouse, plain and simple, he is a simple beatstick, but none the less effective for it. A common tactic is to velocity himself into charge range, or to get a good angle, then with an 11' threat range, he charges with a pow 15 weapon, but the real gem is his uniqe ability- Overload. Stryker can roll 1,2, or 3, D6 and gain that much strength for the round, he then takes the number rolled as damage, so obviously people are not rolling 3d6 as on a good roll, it would drop him. But assuming you roll 2d6, average says 7, so he is now POW 22 with 3d6. That spells instant kill for almost EVERY caster. Barring those even Stryker should hesitate to run at.

He also has a effective Warjack bond, made even better if you took 'Ol rowdy.

Prime Caine- Allister Caine is a formidable ranged assasin, he is nothing to talk about in melee, but in ranged Combat he has no equal, RAT 8 with 2x rng 12 POW 12 pistols, each with ROF 2. He can put the hurt down. His feat though is the real magic.

Caine makes a normal ranged attack against EVERY model in his control area, ignoring intervening models, position him right, and he can knock out a HUGE portion of the opposing force, and even warcasters thinking themselves safe behind their army, will find Caine's ranged ability a frightening prospect.

Caine has a unique ability-Range amplifier, if he is the point of origin for a spell he cast, the spell gains +5 range. This means, he can be throwing out thunder strike at rang 13!! This spelll won't be seeing use to often though, as it does have a whopping cost of 4. While Caine only has 6 focus to spare.

Epic Caine-Epic Caine took what Prime Caine did, and made it better. His pistols now have unlimited ROF, his RAT has become an unholy 9, his feat however, is less up front slaying of the enemy, and more caster assination. For every ranged attack that hits, you gain a cumulative +1 damage, and enemy models boxed explode for pow 12. So in effect, you move, he feats, fires 6 times, assuming all hit (why wouldn't they, with RAT 9) his final shot will be at pow 17. Good stuff.

He still has Range amplifier, and elite cadre gun mages, granting them gunfighter. A more proficient killer at range, you will struggle to find.

Going to sticky this and updates can be added as they are given.

one thing I want is the ability to split my fire everywhere, it makes no sense that a squad of 10 guard or marines or whatever all have to fire at 1 target with everything, is the guy with the lascannon not smart enough to realize maybe he would be better off firing at the massive tank looming overhead instead of the little man no bigger than a squat running at him, or is that far too complex for the 10yr olds?

Cygus Warjacks Cygnar boasts some of the most formidable and technologically advanced Warjacks to be found anywhere in the Iron Kingdoms. Lets start with the Light Jacks-

Charger Possibly the humble of all of Cygnar's Warjacks, the Charger is quite simply a gun platform, at first glance it boasts only an "average" gun, with range 12, pow 12, though with a lovely ROF of 2. It does have RAT 6, which is better than average for warjacks (outside Cygnar, anyways!) the real beauty however, comes in it's Dual Cannons special ability, Powerful Attack this model can spend 1 focus point, to boost the attack and damage rolls for this weapon. So, with 3 focus, you get 2 Fully Boosted shots!! now that is pretty handy.

This is a Jack I commonly see Marshalled to a journeyman, and the two serve as a mobile gun platform, which is quite effective. In melee, it is a bit of a let down, but what do you expect with a gun like that? Boasting average DEF/ARM ratio, pow 12 hammer. He won't be winning you any medals in melee.

Firefly now, I must admit this is a jack I have NEVER seen used in battle before, looking it over, I can see why, it has a weaker, shorter range gun, than the charger, a slightly more powerful weapon in melee, which also has reach. Now, it is immune to electricity, which is to situational to be considered a real merit in my opinion. It does help out stormcallers, but again, situational, even if you include stormcallers, I'm sure there are better options.

Grenadier- The Grenadier, this is a jack capable of fearsome barrages, if you deploy, maneuver, and build your army for it. Range 10' ROF 1, AOE 3' POW 12. Solid right? Well, for each friendly trencher in B2B with it, it gets to make ANOTHER free ranged attack, up to two more. So now, that gun is making 3 pow 12 AOE's a turn. Pretty nasty, am I right? Throw in Advance deployment, Dig in, and only a 5 point cost. This Jack can be wiping the board of enemy infantry, and even a light jack or two.

Hunter- The Hunter is a personal favourite of mine, range 14, rof 1, pow 6, but Armour piercing! That's a nasty gun, made better when you add in that the Jack has an amazing RAT of 7, Advance deployment, and extended control range! Allowing to operate far ahead of your army, and putting the hurt down on enemy beasts and jacks, long before your thin blue line ever needs to fear.

Lancer- The Lancer, the only Arc node in the army (other than a character jack, which is also a lancer!) Is, on the outset, not the most powerful thing you will see. a pow 9, and a pow 12. If it hits a enemy warjack with it's pow 9 shield, in addition to other damage, auto 1 damage to first available cortex point. the real kicker is, if a warjack hits the Lancer, the offending warjack takes an auto cortex point, SO! if an enemy jack hits you 3 times, buh-bye cortex! This is of course assuming your fragile lancer survived the three hits, with it's shield not crippled, or at all. And of course, also the bonus of being a shield. The Spear has reach and set defense.

Take it for the node, if you really need it. But don't expect wonders.

Sentinel- The Sentinel, gatling gun on one arm, shield on the other, what fun! Average stats, with a shield, and the shield guard special rule, which is handy in a pinch. the real beauty is it's range 10, power 10 gun, with Strafe [d6] as a special attack, which means it can lay out a surprising level of punishment at medium range.

That's it for Lights, will update soon for heavies!

I know this is a very late response but this is a great idea Sven. If you don't mind (as I see it's been dropped since the idea came about) I've made a new thread for final overview articles (An Overview of the Armies of WarmaHordes (WIP)) and we will use this as the WIP thread. By all means you can continue with working on your overviews, but to speed the process up I am going to try and get other members of the community involved in making this.

So if you're reading this and you want to help out by writing an overview (in a similar format to the one Lord Sven Kittyclaw has been writing) then just post here saying so.

Regards,
Jake.

I own and play everything in Cryx on a regular basis, including Cephalyx and Boarding Party. Been playing them for years so I could do a short or long write up on just about everything they have. I play every other faction in the game and play against just about everything there is so I have a pretty good grasp on how everyone works. I'd be more than happy to do write ups for whatever.

Sounds awesome mate and would be hugely appreciated. I'm more than happy to work on some Hordes ones myself (mainly Trollbloods).

If you're happy to write up something for Cryx to start with that'd be great. I will of course offer a rep award for those who contribute to this.

Regards,
Jake.
