You ask why the new George Lucas films suck compared to the old ones?

THIS IS THE REASON WHY

I have recently started a new Blog. I would really appreciate it if you would LOOK AT IT

All of them? I think a few of the background tweeks were great additions, but a fair few were unnecessary and poorly thought out.

I'm excited about seeing them in the cinema (in digital!), but as a conversion the 3D will be average at best, and i'd rather watch the untouched films if I had the choice.

yup love them, people get all hung up on the changes as though Lucas has taken there first born, they are his films, hes never been 100% happy with them because of the technology and budget restraints placed on him in the 70s-80s, i have read both the making of books by JW Rinzler which really dig deep into the productions of the movies and give a really interesting insight into the mind of Lucas and how hard he fought to put the stories on screen and therefore i trust in his judgement.
But that said i do think that he should now hand the reigns to the new generation of writers and directors,i love his movies and what he's done for cinema, but the star wars universe has so much potential for more movies (outside of the skywalker storyline)

That scene is perfect the way it is. Vader's grim silence as he hurls Palpatine into the Death Star's reactor is fantastic, he doesn't need to scream NOOOO! while he's doing it.

I didn't mind the addition of Hayden Christensen at the end of Return of the Jedi, it felt like a good addition since we now know what Vader looked like as Anakin. I thought the remastering of Jabba's Palace and its inhabitants was quite good. But this is not a good idea.

I don't like the 3D choice but that's nothing to do with Star Wars, I just don't care for 3D in general.

I'm never going to get that upset over the changes, I just feel a few of them worsen the films. I love the SW universe, and I can understand how hard it must of been to get the original trilogy on screen and looking that good (it's pretty much hailed as the birth of sfx), but I think the limitations really helped the original films.

With unlimited funds, and producers and studios gnashing at the bit to throw money at the prequels, it makes me wonder what they would have been like if they couldn't basically do whatever lucas wanted.

3D is awesome, think about the attack on the death star in 3D!! or the darth maul lightsabre fight? hell even the pod race might pass as watchable in 3D, dont forget that industrial light and magic are a big part of the reason we now have 3D in cinema, not to mention Lucas having the foresight to film digitally, the man's a genius and we should trust in the plaid wearing beardy one.

Aye! And apart from the ones you mentioned, I am really looking forward the the Episode 3 space battle, and in Episode 4 when the huge start destroyer is chasing Tantive IV at the beging.
