Dead space is a prequel to first game. There is another Dead Space movie, but didn't watch that one. Both are animated.

Legendary Pictures presented their panel for their planned game-to-film adaptation Mass Effect at Friday's San Diego Comic-Con with screenwriter Mark Protosevich and game creator Casey Hudson there to talk up the highly anticipated movie.

The Legendary exec on the panel said he was aware of the poor reputation of past video game movies, but that they believe the fact they're working with the powers-that-be behind the games gives them the confidence that they will make a film that will go against that trend.

Protosevich said that past game movie makers were smitten with the visuals and action of the games and mistakenly believed they could simply recreate the game on film. The writer added that he believes Mass Effect has a mythology as rich and deep as those of Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, but that they are focusing solely on the first game for the movie version.

Beyond that there was no real news to be had on the movie. There's no cast or director yet, nor did the panel show any concept art from the film. Maybe next year's SDCC will see a more substantial Mass Effect movie panel.

I would enjoy a movie set in the mass effect universe, but not with the same story as the games. Making a movie about the game would just be silly, as what makes the story great is that it's effected by the players choices. And there would be no point in seeing a movie with the same story as a game that you could just, you know, play instead. And some stuff would surely be ruined (like the starwars prequels, which was completely unnecessary, especially in such a huge universe with so much potential. But nooo, Lucas just had to ruin the original films instead of having to come up with something new...)

I wish they'd make one with Femshep instead of the guy. I've never met anyone who didn't like her better.

There's a fair few that acknowledge it as this: Regular Shepard for Renegade, Femshep for Paragon. Jennifer Hale is very good, but her lines do sound a bit forced as Renegade, while Meers improved from ME1 to 2 enough to get a natural sarcasm with Renegade options that works quite well.

Writer of crappy fics, I hope you might derive some enjoyment from them.

FictionPress.com: For original stuff.

FanFiction.net: For stuff that is part of an established universe.

I don't think the star wars prequels were a bad idea, they just weren't properly executed. I don't think it would have been so bad without jar jar and hayden.

I have a Femshep and she's paragon. I don't get where people come off saying her voice acting was any better then maleshep though.

I'm honestly not as big a fan of Femshep, she seems too small for being a soldier (which seems to be the "canon" class) or vanguard, with her body type being more suited for other classes (adept, sentinel, ect.).

As for a Mass Effect movie, I'd rather see it as an anime then a live action film. If the movie was made live action the majority would be CG anyway so why not just go the whole way?
