The movie was good, watched it last evening. I enjoyed it. Thou it was a tad bit boring during the talky moments at times. I want more explosions.

I don't think any of the jokes throughout the three films where funny, they where well over the top and just where just unsubtle, maybe that's my sense of humour or British humour in general but I didn't find the jokes funny at all.

Oh no doubt, very american humour(no offence to any here). Too 'in your face' and obvious.

I don't mind turning my brain off at the door, but if that's what you want from the audience then lay it on the table straight away.

For a movie that excels in cheap thrills and pretty visuals, it spends a hell of a lot of time (and money) driving a ridiculous, convoluted, shambles of a plot which is full of holes.

But what went wrong? The first film was so enjoyable, fun, well paced and generally awesome. The other two have just degenerated into a visual affair and nothing else
Honestly I don't think anything went wrong but rather that you, Varakir, and others who share their opinion of the movie may have been expecting more than you were ever going to get. The first movie was damn near perfect in every way and was always going to be damn hard, if not impossible, to improve upon.

For example, here is how you look at the execution scene:

Quote:
The worst one is the Autobot who knows hes about to be executed, yet STILL doesn't attempt to go for a weapon.
You find fault in that for obvious reasons and immediately try thinking of what 'Bee should be doing, logically. Same with Varakir with the above example which he feels is pointless. Now here is how I saw those scenes:

'Bee not going for a gun before getting executed. Perhaps he was UNABLE to form a gun from taking too much damage. Perhaps because of what is going on he just felt tired and defeated and unwilling to carry on (which happens to soldiers often), etc. With the Autobots leaving on a ship to convince everyone they are gone, they did have to convince more than just Megatron and company as the humans might have turned on them as well out of fear.

This is the thing with movies like this, you have to fully suspend your disbelief to enjoy them properly simply because they are so impossible that the minute you start applying logic to them, everything falls apart. Tell me, did you guys see the new X-Men and find yourselves just unable to come to grips with Magneto lifting a sub out of the water or the fact that his control of the missiles kept slipping as he was distracted? Or did you step out of the logical world we live in, accept it for the fun it is, and think "yeah, that's badass"?

one thing I want is the ability to split my fire everywhere, it makes no sense that a squad of 10 guard or marines or whatever all have to fire at 1 target with everything, is the guy with the lascannon not smart enough to realize maybe he would be better off firing at the massive tank looming overhead instead of the little man no bigger than a squat running at him, or is that far too complex for the 10yr olds?

Apparently there's probably going to be another Trilogy without Shia and Bay.

By the way, as a Media student I find it hard to suspend belief when the fundamental principles of film making are ignored a lot of the time. Things like continuity, composition, angles etc are simply terribly done within the film.

The script also has a lot of holes in it and it's all well and good that you could potentially make up reasons for it but when the issues are such major glaring problems it's pretty obvious that it was thought out poorly.

the thing i don't like about the movies are the characters just disappear and there don't seem to be any consistency in the story or its just a weak arse story line full of plot holes.
people seem to think, hot(ish) girl + giant robots + explosions = good film
If you can turn your brain off then its not too bad.

and why take the twins out because some people found them annoying or some bullshit, fuck them.

No i'm well aware of willing suspension of disbelief(WSOD). I have no problem accepting the fact that in that fictional world Transformers exist etc. But its when you start changing the rules that it gets messed up and your WSOD begins to fail. You start breaking the Internal Consistency etc.

To give an example. Transformers exist, yes we accept this, but other than that, this Earth is still shown to follow all the rules and principes that govern our Earth. Yet somehow the wingsuits shown in the film are shown to give the jumper incredible flight abilities that a wingsuit just can't provide.

And with Bumblebee, i just don't accept that "he couldn't be bothered/downhearted" when he is shown to be more than able to kill every Decepticon in the area on his own. This is nothing to do with Suspension of Disbelief. One moment he is on his knees about to be executed, then all of a sudden his guns are out again(showing they do infact work, no damage or only superficial) and he is killing everything in sight, having only just readily allowed one of his allies to be executed. It just doesn't make any sense.

So no, when i watched X-men i had no problem with Magneto pulling a submarine out, or losing concentration as someone fought him. As it made sense, it fit with the interal consistency and the genre rules and it all make logical sense(withing the confines of that Earth). Now had someone put Magneto in a metal cage(which he can obviously get out of) yet then had him sit there defeated as they executed Xavier infront of him and then had him escape moments after, i would probably be annoyed. But they didn't
