I think its one of those, what I call 'Marmite' movies. You either love it, or you don't.

Personaly I love it. While by no mean is it a perfect movie, its a great blend of action, intrigue, a great plot idea, and good actors. So, bits were changed from the graphic novel its based on, but I don't think they broke the message of the movie.

Personaly, I wish they could have made a second on, but as anyone who's seen the movie or read the novel, you know why this is pointless.

One thing though...:

What he said

The Pink outfit, when she see's the priest is nommy. I have something similar in my GothLoli Closet.

The film itself is good, He makes some good speeches, though over done at points. And the fight scenes were well done.

Agreed. I enjoyed Hugo acting out all the verbatim parts from the comic, and it gave us a flash of what we nearly had.

The rest of the film was fairly alright for me. Enjoyable, but never inspired. I do actually own it, but I think the fact I've only watched it 3 or 4 times speaks a lot.

As for portman, she has a lot of nice scenes in that film, and does a pretty good evey.....but it's hard to forgive her (more likely the director) for this line:

I liked it, but I haven't read the graphic novel so I don't have a good frame of reference. My biggest criticism, and I think I read that Alan Moore thought the same, was that it was cowardly take a story that was written for England and layer current American issues over it instead of dealing with the issues directly.

Just to be honest, (everyones kind of tip toeing IMO) I thought it sucked.

It couldn't be taken seriously as a classic movie like Fight Club or Pulp Fiction, but at the same time it wasn't silly enough to compete with guilty pleasures like Equilibrium.

So it missed both marks for quality and guilty enjoyment.

Lose + lose.
