Paul: Awesome. Laughed my ass off during this film, great stuff from Nick Frost and Simon Pegg.

Hardcore Pornography - The acting is sh*t, the music is sh*t, the tecnical quality and production values are very sh*t and yet I would still give it a 10/10. How that works? Don't ask me, but despite its many negatives I will be back for more in the future.

On a more serious note.

Social Network - Movie made by David Fincher, my favourite director, and is about the creation of facebook. That might sound unappealing (I to hate facebook and haven't joined) but the movie is of the highest quality and should have been this years best picture. Definately see it at least once. 9/10

True Grit - A Coen brothers quirky/serious Western, about a young girl (brilliantly acted, was nominated and should have won an Oscar) seeking revenge for the murder of her father, who hires a bounty hunter (Jeff Bridges). With great performances all round the movie is solid ... except for the ending, which I won't spoil, but which in typical Coen fashion will leave you unsatisfied. However the movie is still very much worth a view. 7/10.

Hard Candy - Haley is a 13yo girl who meets Jeff online in a chatroom. Haley, knowing he is much older, agrees to meet with him and they return to his home together. Hilarity of the most unpleasant kind occurs. I cannot reveal much more or it completely spoils the plot. It is a very tense thriller with only two principle actors throughout the entire movie, the wonderful Ellen Page and equally good Patrick Wilson. Download, rent or steal it, do whatever you can to see this movie as it is exceptionally good. 20/10 (My second favourite movie of all time)

The Blue Max - A War Film starring George Peppard (in his best role), it tells the story of WW1 fighter pilots from the German perspective. Peppard's character Stachel is from the trenches, and is of low class, whereas all the pilots in his squadron are high class German Von's, he is determined to show them up and win the coveted Blue Max, Germany's highest military honour. Filmed in my native Ireland, with real bi-Plane sequences, and Peppard doing some of his own real flying (he had a licence) this is an excellent and underrated movie. Plus its great to follow the Germans for a change. 21/10 (My number one movie of all time).

Watched a lot of stuff over the past few days:

Billy Madison: Sandler on top form, in this silly comedy vehicle. A lot of his later stuff is just too overwritten, whilst here it's just raw, spontaneous stupidity. Not as good as Happy Gilmore but still great.

Super 8: Great film, solid likeable cast and characters. The supernatural presence was a little familiar to what we've seen from other films in the past few years, but it still drives a superb film that I hope plenty of people will see.

The skin I live in: Like other Almodovar films, there's a very striking and compelling story here, as well as a great deal of madness. It definitely garnered my attention throughout, and it's well put together, but it's not the kind of film i'd be in a hurry to re-watch.

Horrible Bosses: Competent comedy actors having fun with a very strong script. The poster for this makes it look very middle of the road, but the trailer instilled some confidence. Thankfully the trailer contains only a few of the funniest bits, and overall you're getting a hilarious film which i think will do very well on word of mouth.

The Godfather- If you haven't seen this you should kill yourself. If you don't like it please don't breed.

Training day- Denzel's best performance. Great acting, greats story, great soundtrack

American Gangster- Another great Denzel performance. Perhaps not a classic but a must see

I was kinda in a gangster movie mood, Got Casino and Goodfellas ready to watch next. I love Joe Pesci.

I am Number Four

Meh. Decent but not worth watching a second time. Biggest problem is a lack of explanation of the conflict that the movie surrounds. They give enough to know that this faction is after that faction but not why. For being the basis of the movie, this is a glaring lack. Otherwise it was decent, just not overly good either.

one thing I want is the ability to split my fire everywhere, it makes no sense that a squad of 10 guard or marines or whatever all have to fire at 1 target with everything, is the guy with the lascannon not smart enough to realize maybe he would be better off firing at the massive tank looming overhead instead of the little man no bigger than a squat running at him, or is that far too complex for the 10yr olds?

Gone Baby Gone: An amazing drama that seems to have slipped through the net. Solid acting and directing bring a really powerful story to the screen. Can't recommend this enough.

Green Hornet: Far from spectacular, but it kept chugging along rather nicely. Christoph Waltz is almost the most awesome thing in this film, second only to the car.
