I didn't see the Avengers one but I 100% agree about the Prometheus one. I saw it when I went to see Wrath of the Titans 3D (which was also a damn good film, in my opinion).

Today i watched the incredible flop that was:

Streetdance 2: Dance films have always been a tragic mess of plot of acting, but they have breakdancing, so it makes everything ok. The first streetdance was a grueling experience of recycled screenplay and a lead that couldn't carry her own role, let alone the film. So surely the sequel couldn't be worse?

Well of course it can. This time around the thin plot is even more diluted, and everything in conveyed in montage. Training, traveling, angst. They even convey a sit down dining experience in montage. The dancing should pick up the slack but it fails miserably. The choreography is mediocre at best, and the editing jumps around so much it's difficult to make out what's going on.

HUNGER GAMES: yeah, it's alright. Dragged a little in places, and not 100% sold on a few of the characters, but it was fairly enjoyable for the most part.

Cabin in the Woods: This is a Joss Whedon project through and through. Much like his comics writing, he completely deconstructs established characters whilst lovingly applying a heavy level of fan service. In the film it's horror concepts and cliche's instead of superheroes, but the concept works beautifully. The film flows really nicely and the actors all pull their weight with the wide array of comedy, horror and dramatic elements. The plot doesn't quite keep up with the high concept ideas, but it's still a great watch for film lovers - just make sure your tongue is firmly in your cheek.

Headhunters: Solid and engaging thriller, with great character driven narrative. Not quite good enough to be essential viewing, but definitely a strong contender.

Sherlock Season 1 Episode 1: A Study in Pink: Awesome! Second time I've seen this, having got the DVD of Season 1, and really good. A few laughs, and a hint of Doctor Who about it (Probably because Steven Moffat is the writer), and the theme tune is awesome. (4/5 stars).

Captain America: The First Avenger: Got this on DVD for my Birthday yesterday. Saw it last night, liked what I saw. Although nowhere near as good as Avengers Assemble (which I didn't expect it to be), it wasn't as bad as Iron Man 2 or Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, which is a good thing. (3/5 stars) Now, will be getting Thor soon as it's the only Avengers film that I'm yet to watch.

Sherlock Season 1- immense, but makes me want to re-watch season 2, which is a hell of a lot better.

Seven Days- I'm watching some classic Sci-Fi and this is one of the series I'm working through. Little dated in places but its still fairly good.

Today I have been watching...

Attack the Block, not bad, not bad at all. Had the odd comicaly element thrown in every now and again which was good, watch it.

Unless your a yankee, or someone who doesn't speak london...

Weird that so many have been watching Sherlock recently - i just watched both seasons a couple of weeks back. Awesome show.

film wise...

Salmon Fishing in the Yemen: Reminded me of a Richard Curtis film but with better, more dimensional characters. The script is sharp, witty, and doesn't dwell on the dark aspects of the story, and the cast put it across well. A quaint and unconventional rom com, with a nice uplifting overtone. i wouldn't rush out to see it, but it's worth catching on dvd or tv one day.
