I really like Aliens, but Alien is by far my favourite of the 2. When it got the cinema re-release a few years back I got to see it on the big screen with 2 mates and no one else in the auditorium.....pure bliss.

Well, My summary of films:

Alien: AWESOME
Aliens: Yeah, Analogy of Vietnam, I know, But still awesome!
Alien3: Pete Postlethwaite = AWESOME
Alien-Resurrection: WTF is this!?

Predator: Sweet, Except (Oddly) the End credits killed it.
Predator 2: Meh...
Predators: THIS should be Predator 2.

AvP: ...How does 18 + 18 = 12?
AvP-Requiem: Nearly there!

Now, Although a Fan of Predators, I've always enjoyed the Huge universe/fluff the Aliens had, so Aliens for me.

My vote goes to the alien. It just purely oozes awesomeness and you just only have to remember watching the chestburster scene for the first time to remember how scared you was and then you really realise how the alien is a perfect organism. Heck even the sexual rape metaphors make it even more awesome!

Stupidly loads of people in my college have never watched any of the alien films or even know what it is. It is just so funny watching their reactions when they do come about that chestburster scene. I saw someone throw up and another passed out. Which was kind of hard to explain to the guys family.

I have recently started a new Blog. I would really appreciate it if you would LOOK AT IT

the alien franchise for me, all the way

don't get me wrong, i love predator too, but i could watch aliens any time

the less said about the AvP "films", the better. the 2nd one is practically unwatchable because it's so dark and hard to see what's going on

I vote for the Alien. The design is brilliant and, if you ponder it for a while, really evokes some primal fear. The first two movies are excellent, the third has (in my opinion) great atmosphere, but takes some warming up to. The forth one . . . had some cool ideas, but was a little odd.
Now, the predator is great too, don't get me wrong. I just think it's a little less cerebral than the Alien. And I think how, in at least two of the movies with Predators, the humans team up with the Preds is a little lame.

Female Preds are awesome. And kinda' hot if they keep the helmet on.
Female Aliens are horrible bloated egg machines with no redeeming features.
Point: Predators

Male Predators are hunters that try and get the best trophies to impress the ladies.
Male Aliens are hunters that live and die to protect their queen.
Point: Aliens

The third Predator movie (not counting AVP) kicked ass and was true to the original.
The third and fourth Alien movies got progressively worse and eventually became a parody of themselves.
Point: Predators

The Predators were defeated by Arnold Schwartzenegger, Danny Glover, Adrien Brody and Laurence Fishburne
The Aliens were defeated by Sigourney Weaver
Point: Draw

Predators have it by a hair.

Giger's Alien is a model for horror. It's much deeper as a story piece than the Predator. The Predator is really, really two-dimensional to me.

Plus, we all saw how AvP turned out. Aliens lose because we blow up everything. That, my friends, is a Pyrrhic victory.

You'll forgive me, but you must be mistaken. I've met your makers, and they don't even know your name...

The new predator film has restored some of my confidence in their coolness however.
I felt they made the predators look too shiny and polished, especially in the first AvP movie. The predator in the second AvP movie looked more like the Predator/Predator 2 predators.

The predator is supposed to have a high-tech yet savage, almost feral, tribal look. The silver armour looked too "clean".
