Alien for me.

Predator is a wicked design and a great concept, but the Alien is the first and last line in scary space monster. Everything from the eggs, the facehugger, chest burster and it's final incarnation are properly unsettling, and totally iconic.

Alien! Freaky scary, super strong and fast, and the fact that they come out of the goddamn walls in swarms makes them one of my favourite movie antagonists.

Also, they`re similar to nids and I like that sort of thing.

Don't think you can really compare them as they are two different kinds of films. Yes there are bits that make you jump in Predator but overall it's an action film, hell it's got the King of action films in it. "Schtick around"

Alien, Aliens and Alien 3 (we'll miss out the last one) are more like sci-fi horror. More so in the first two. I know Cameron directed the second one and to some extent it is a little bit more "actiony" but overall when you were a child it scared the hell outta you.

It is said that the guttural sound of Dwarfs bellowing Grungni’s name is enough to make an Elf’s knees knock and a Goblin turn a sickly shade of yellow!

Predator is the superior specie in my opinion, by far. I really like the Preadators, and if I would have to be one of them, I would be a predator. Heck, they even fit my playing stile in video games, and in the AVP game I always play as a Predator if it is possible.

I really started loving the Predators after having watched AVP 2 (which is one of the best movies ever!), and after some quick research I turned into a Predator fanboy. (Probably adds up to my long list of fanboy titles...)

I have been a alien and pred fan since i was kid and i will say that the first alien film will always be one of the greatest horror films ever made. This film has spawned so many diffrent games, movies, comics, and well the nids actually. When it was made it was completely original. The Pred. films were the same as well. I wish to god though that ridley scott would come back and save the alien franchise. The new pred film helped save that one. The first AVP film was a good film and did very well tying the two together but what killed it was a lack of action and a PG-13 rating which was just a dumb move in general. The 2nd I like to call fun to watch but too damned cheesy. Just because its alien and predator doesn't mean we need a female heroine who acts just like ripley nor do we need some dude that acts like a hero. Also write an original script please and lets not just throw one liners form older movies every five minutes. What really upset me about the AVP films was that i had been waiting for an AVP movie since i was like 10 and then what i get completely fails me.

They are both great movies and franchises, but Alien just edges it for me.

Favourites have got to be Aliens and Predator - both are phenomenal, gung-ho action movies among my all time greats.

Best bits:

Hicks "Eat this!" before closing the APC door.

Hudson's final moments.

Vasquez doing pullups and the "no, have you?" line.

Arnie lighting up cigar then exiting the copter.

Jesse "the body" Ventura - some great lines.

Arnie standing amongst the desolation when the smoke clears.

I like them both but the Predators are my favorites. They are quite probably the best hunters in the galaxy, and it took an entire team of special ops soldiers just to bring one down, and with only one soldier and one civilian survivor.

And they'd rather die then be captured alive. Sheer awesomeness. - The Kabal of Shattered Souls Project Log - Check out Talk Wargaming for reviews by Lord of the Night.

Couldn't agree more. Aliens remains my all time favourite film and that is mainly because aside from being a wicked movie the alien is hands down the coolest looking movie monster ever devised thanks to H. R. Giger. I really dig the Pred movies but none of them have thrilled me so much that I have felt the urge to watch them over and over like Aliens (150+ viewing to date).

one thing I want is the ability to split my fire everywhere, it makes no sense that a squad of 10 guard or marines or whatever all have to fire at 1 target with everything, is the guy with the lascannon not smart enough to realize maybe he would be better off firing at the massive tank looming overhead instead of the little man no bigger than a squat running at him, or is that far too complex for the 10yr olds?

Alien was one of the best movies I have ever seen, but Predator is probably my second favorite movie, right after The Princess Bride. Inigo Montoya would own them both.

Alien, all the way!
I am in the minority of people who actually didn't think much of Aliens, but Alien, that's a whole different story!
I adore the film and have lost count of how many times i've seen it now and it still remains a great film.
The Predator films (I've only seen 1 and 2) are still good but they come nowhere near the creeping menace and claustrophobia of the first Alien film.

AVP? Can we all just pretend that it never happened?

Also, Ewoks eat people.
Never forget that.
