As if I was not looking forward to this movie enough already. Damn it, a year and a half to go.

Hathaway is smoking hot, and Cain is my favourite Batman villain, complete badass, hoping for a cubic fuckton of skimpy outfits, and intense fights.

General consensus of Batman Begins: "OMG IT'S TERRIBLE. WHO THE FUCK IS RA'S AL GHUL?!" It was also, unlike Dark Knight, GOOD.

General consensus of The Dark Knight: "OMG HEATH LEDGER WAS A BRILLIANT JOKER!". Fuck you. He was a shit Joker, but a pretty great bad guy. But that bad guy couldn't possibly be less Joker-like if he tried.

New one will probably be "YAY CATWOMAN. WHO CARES ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE?" I liked the idea of Doc Strange and Talia, back when Nolan was promising no Catwoman. Oh well. It can't be as much of a letdown from Batman Begins as Dark Knight was.

Right?

Right?
Who would you consider a good joker (*fingers crossed* please dont say Jack Nicholson)?

That's just it. It's not Ledger's fault at all that the Joker he was paid to play was shit. It was all in the writing. Entirely so. The appearance was great, the character himself, not so much. I just think Nolan had him written far TOO dark. He wasn't the Joker, he was generic, somewhat scheming comic universe gang leader #23 in face paint.

Personally, I think the Joker Blogs (WATCH THIS ENTIRE SERIES. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, WATCH IT!)
took the Ledger joker and improved on it thousandfold. THIS is how the Joker really should be. It's just that the Dark Knight's writing had a real...lack of the dark humour, I think.

But saying that, Nolan got Crane down amazingly, so it's not even his being a bad writer. I just think, as a long time fan of DC stuff, Joker went TOO realistic.

I don't know is Hathaway will work... but they again I though Heath Ledger was going to be bad as the joker and I couldn't be further off the mark. Trust in Nolan.

Eugh. That film was an affront to humanity.

I can see where you're coming from, but i'd have to disagree. It's very hard to capture 70 years of character development in one film, and i thought the part was written and played very well. The tone of the film is very dark, so it stands to reason that the antagonist of the film has to be more so.

Movie joker did cross the line in terms of what i'd expect from the character, but overall i think the essence of the character was captured well.

Thanks for linking the blogs, i haven't seen how they are in any way 'better' than Ledger's joker, but the writing isn't too bad so i'll keep watching

They get even better the further they go. As of about 4 or 5, they start getting VERY comic Joker in places. Plus the metric asstonne of DC references are great, too.

Also, for those people saying 'Trust Nolan', I have two words for you as a reason he should never be trusted with an existing IP and characters people like.

Harvey. Dent.
Talk about obviously changing your mind about the story arc halfway through and wasting potential.
