Default better off ted ?

Just watched the first 10 episodes of better off ted, and just checked on line and it got canned after season 2, why the fuck do you guys in the USA put up with networks that constantly can entertaining programmes ? and let poor quality crap carry on.

I agree with you. Better off Ted was very entertaining.

As for the reason why. Blame Nielsen ratings. A good article that explains Nielsen, alot of which I didn't know, can be found here:

25,000 people control the ratings for all of the US. And at present, they don't really factor in online viewing, and DVR's are spotty at best, etc.

What would you have us do? Riot in the streets? Burn down the TV networks buildings? Go on a murderous rampage and hold people hostage until the show was brought back or the shit ones cancelled? Maybe killing a hostage an hour will get them to do it faster?

It all depends on the network that owns/airs it. If it is one of the big three networks ABC, NBC or CBS it better have very good to excellent viewing numbers and high ratings to be continued. They do not put up with marginal numbers even if the show really is good. It is all about numbers. Now the same show on a lesser network, say, TBS or FX will be more than happy with a show that has marginal viewer numbers and less than optimal ratings. They are after all a lower "quality" network and do not get anywhere near as much recognition or viewers to begin with so are very happy with a lesser share of the ratings.

The day and the time slot the show airs also plays a big role in its popularity. If a new show goes up against another well known and very successful show that is high in the ratings it has a huge hurdle to leap to get viewers to either switch over or pick up. Some shows that are good are just not good enough for the time slot it was intended to fill and get cancelled or moved to a different slot and day.

TV networks are fucking brutal and cut throat in their business. They will do whatever they want to get high ratings, period. They are unapologetic when it comes to what they cancel or what they do. You are just the sheeple that watch, you mean nothing to them...
