Default Sucker Punch

Just heard about this flick that's slated for 2011, and it looks amazing. From what I hear it's about a gal who is sent to a mental hospital and has 5 days before she undergoes a lobotomy. She attempts to conjur up an escape plan while retreating to an alternate reality or some such.

Anyway, check out the trailer. It's insane. (cwutididthar?)

Downside: Plot? What plot?

Upside: Fit girls with swords, fit girls with guns, undead samurai with miniguns, WW2 Bombers, exploding zeppelins, strip shows, dragons, trenches, robots.

90% of people think they are above average.

Statistically Improbable. Psychologically Inevitable.

I love the look of the giant Samurai...things...but for a film which is so obviously 99% eye-candy, that's a really frustrating trailer. I hate the 'FAST CUTS MEANS EXCITING!!!!!!' school of editing, it's lazy thinking that just means you can't actually see anything and it all becomes a pointless blur - if there's something cool on-screen I want to see it, not have it vanish after 0.02 seconds.

Ehh. I'll probably go see it anyway.

Yeah, but that's what sells these days. Not that I agree with it or anything. I believe movie previews should attempt to hint at the plot instead of the special effects budget. Bah...

We'll see how this one goes, but I'm likely to make a trip to the theater to see this. I don't recall the last time I did so but I figure it'd be a decent movie to catch if it's mostly an action deal. Can't be bothered to see a movie I significantly care about plot-wise with dozens of loud mouthed simpletons bothering me every few moments.
