I thought he was good in Shutter Island and Aviator, not so great in other films. I've got my fingers crossed hoping they'll do a good job.
DiCaprio has been in a very good phase of his career lately. Ever since The Departed, I've been fairly impressed with his work.

As for The Book of Eli, I'll admit I've not yet seen Zatoichi, though based on descriptions it does sound like an apt comparison. I found the twist to be fairly fresh, probably as a result of not having seen that series. Though I'm a little puzzled by your comparison to Fahrenheit 451; would you care to elaborate?

For me it's easy - Blade Runner. I think it is an excellent film (indeed my personal overall fave film) and it does an amazing job of depicting a dystopic future. Its the one that has always seemed the most likely to me as well. The overcrowding, the lack of nature and greenery, the cooperate control, the constant advertising, the technology going insane (i.e the Replicants) and people being reduced to 'little people' outside of the mega-rich (Tyrell) or certain professions. An amazing film in my opinion.

My commendations go to RoboCop and Metropolis as they are excellent dystopic films too.

KF's Journey Through His Plastic Crack Addiction. 40k, Flames of War, Bolt Action, and more.

Blade Runner is probably my favourite.

Logan's Run DID have a short lived televison series back in the late 70s or so (Donald Moffat was in it as the android - he was also in Carpenter's version of "the thing") with a much younger Gregory Harrison (Trapper John MD).

Hey! Where'd ... Everybody ... go?
