Default Buried - Thoroughly Recommend.

Spent a few hours watching Ryan Reynolds in a box last night......and it was fantastic. Buried was thoroughly captivating, I'd recommend any fans of cinema to go see this movie. From the incredible camera-work to the enthralling script to Reynolds' superb performance, the film delivered on all levels.

I had some doubts about whether this movie concept could be pulled off and by god has the director/editor/producer managed it. It left the audience on the edge of their seats from the off, propelling the plot as a healthy speed. Clever use of dark comedy is sprinkled throughout the piece, giving you a moments rest in the otherwise tense thriller.

Go see Buried. You'll never look at a coffin in the same way.

Claustrophobically,

L.

I'm not enthused despite what I've heard thus far. It'll take a bit more convincing for me to see this.

gotta say "dude in a box" doesn't really sell a movie to me, however I am intrigued as to how it's pulled off. Not intrigued enough to blow a mortgage on a cinema ticket and assorted dnacks, maybe enough to "borrow" a copy though.

Have to go with the OP and recommend this. It's a brave move to film an entire movie from the confines of a box, and even braver to film what is at it's core, a comedy, inside said box.

After 10 minutes I was afraid i'd get a little bored, but this concern didn't rear it's head for the rest of the film. The phone acts as a plethora of new characters, as well as building tension and creating a beacon of hope and despair at the same time.

The cinematography is excellent, and they really work the angles to ensure the visuals are as varied as they can be, holding faith in the audience to suspend belief at times and forget the camera is really there.

The comedy elements are darker than dark, creating unease in your stomach even as the laugh escapes your mouth. Reynolds is perfect for this role, his timing is perfect.

His animated performance playing against the indifferent, dis-embodied voices who really couldn't give a damn about him, reflect well on the hopeless and desperate situation he finds himself facing.

My only negative is the film finishes 10 minutes too late, hammering home a theme which has already been explored enough.

Might not be for everyone, but it's worth watching to find out.
