No mention of the Goodfellas?

One of my all time favourite films that, albeit one that draws on for a long time, but is none-the-less good. Here's some of my favourites:

Goodfellas
American History X.
Green Street (...Does that count?)
The Untouchables.

There are a lot more. However, sadly, I cannot remember them at the moment!

Nyctophobia- Fear of the Dark Angel.

"No one ever spoke about of those two absent brothers. Their separate tragedies had seemed like aberrations. Had they, in fact, been warnings that no one had heeded?"

'Killing a man is like fucking, boy, only instead of giving life you take it. You experience the ecstasy of penetration as your warhead enters the enemy's belly and the shaft follows. You see the whites of his eyes roll inside the sockets of his helmet. You feel his knees give way beneath him and the weight of his faltering flesh draw down the point of your spear. Are you picturing this?'
'Yes, lord.'
'Is your dick hard yet?'
'No, lord.'
''What? You've got your spear in a man's guts and your dog isn't stiff? What are you, a woman?'

Also a bit surprised by that, i usually think of Goodfellas even before the Godfather. There are a hell of a lot of Gangster titles though.

Here's my favourites from what hasn't already been said:

The Departed
Infernal Affairs
Donnie Brasco
Road to Perdition
Public Enemies (wasn't too shabby)
Mean streets
Once upon a time in America

My Salamander Logs & Army Showcase:

HEAT! Come on! It has Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Val Kilmer, Jon Voight, Tom Sizemore, Ashley Judd, Hank Azaria and Natalie Portman in it. Fucking awesome film from start to finish.

A Bronx Tale Another De Niro classic. Excelent acting and a really good plot. The scene with the biker gang in the bar with Chazz Palminteri is crazy.

Scarface The quintessential Al Pacino movie. A must see.

Cop Land Another great mob movie. Sly Stalone puts in a top notch performance in this one.

Tombstone A western mob/gang movie. "I'll be your huckleberry..."

The French Connection A true crime classic with Gene Hackman.

Harlem Nights Two of the most popular comedian actors of their time together in this film, Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor make one good movie.

Ronin I have always heard mixed reviews of this one, but I liked it. De Niro, Sean Bean and Jean Reno are good in this one.

The Usual Suspects Great plot twists and top notch performances all around. It was Keyser Soze!!!

Reservoir Dogs This put Quentin Tarantino on the map as a director. Violent, bloody and unforgettable. A great movie.

Eastern Promises Good movie about the Russian mob with Viggo Mortensen.

A History of Violence Viggo Mortensen in this one as a small town shop owner when he attracts the attention of the wrong people.

Donnie Brasco Another Pacino film that is top notch.

Carlito's Way Yet another Pacino great.

We Own the Night Good solid performances by Mark Wahlberg and Joaquin Phoenix.

Prizzi's Honor Jack Nicholson and Kathleen Turner in a classic.

The Magnificent Seven Not sure this fits perfectly, but it is a great movie based on The Seven Samurai but set in a western. Really good movie.

The Dirty Dozen Again, not sure it is a true gang movie, but it is about a gang of military misfits on a suicide mission. Good WWII movie.

Training Day Once again, not really a gang movie, but it has gang ties in it. A good action/cop/gangster movie with Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke.

New Jack City Wesley Snipes as the drug lord who starts the crack cocaine industry. Ice-T is in it too! Actually, it is a fantastic movie.

The Unforgiven Gene Hackman, Morgan Freeman and good old Clint Eastwood in the western classic about a small gang out to make some money for killing a few bad people. This is in my top 5 favorite movies list... hence my user name...

Ah, some good choices there!

Some more I liked were;

A History of Violence. One of two Ed Harris-Viggo Mortenson pair ups that I thoroughly enjoyed, the other being Appaloosa, which is also a good gang film!

The Rock. Not really sure if this counts. Bet you have realised that I'm a big fan of Ed Harris by now

Four Brothers. What isn't there to like about cold-hearted revenge?

The Wild Bunch. One of the more brutal Westerns, and a really good one at that!

The Last Hard Men. Again, a more brutal Western, one I loved.

Public Enemies
Infernal Affairs
Heat
The Untouchables
City Of God
Once Upon A Time In America
Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels
The Godfather

All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?
