Default Someone please tell George Romero to stop

It took me about 35 minutes to realize that 'Survival of the Dead' wasn't worth watching - 10 of those minutes, by the way, were spent viewing the previews.

I really enjoyed the original Night, Dawn and Day of the Dead movies, and the social commentary expressed therein. I even really enjoyed the remake of Night, and felt it was a modern update that remained true to the original movie.

But the remake of Dawn of the Dead? Land of the Dead? Diaries of the Dead? (aka, the Zombie Witch Project). And the tripe that is Survival of the Dead?

George, please stop. Enjoy your appearances at Comic Con or whatever, but please give it a rest. You are turning into a living embodiment of Aliens 3+4 / Terminator 3+4.

I haven't seen Survival of the Dead yet so I can't really comment on that, but for the most part I agree with you Turkeyspit. The exception being the Dawn remake; Romero had no input on it and I think it was pretty awesome. Lacking in social commentary, perhaps, but I don't watch zombie flicks for the profound insight into American culture; I watch them because I just wanna see zombies get fucked up.

I disliked the Dawn remake for the very same reason that Romero did: fast moving zombies. I also thought the commentary on commercialism wasn't as evident in the remake as it was in the original, but as you say, such insight isn't required to make a genre movie like this successful. I just like to note it because I feel it sets his original works above other mere zombie flicks.

I did like how they handled the ending for the Dawn remake - those who sat through the credits got to see the final finale :D

Dawn of the Dead, the remake, was a good movie. I enjoyed it for what it was, a zombie hack and slash flick, nothing more. I got about 45 minutes into diary of the dead and gave up. It was unwatchable. Romero and his movies/sequels have always gone one step too far. He doesn't know when to quit and ends up putting out garbage that lessens all the movies.

I loved the Dawn of the Dead remake more than the original, but they're both good. I saw Land of the Dead and that was enough for me. I see the appeal of the fast moving zombies, but I'd love for someone to make a well put together, not B-movie quality, slow-moving zombie movie, for old time's sake.

I dont watch zombie movies. They are all the same formula.

A zombie apocalypse occurs and follows a group of people which consists of a strong leader who has doubts, a female, usually blonde, who falls in love with him and surprising can kick ass, a fat guy who dies early, and an intelligent guy who handles the technology.
