Mines are:

Gladiator (I think that arena counts as a battlefield)
Deer Hunter
Born on the Fourth of July
Lord of the Rings (yes, this counts)
A Bridge Too Far
Saving Private Ryan
Gods and Generals
Full Metal Jacket
Starship Troopers (only the first one, the rest suck)
Four Feathers
Enemy at the Gates
The Longest Day
The Patriot (lol historically incorrect in every single level, but nice drama)

Thats my order for now, I'll probably change it up, as I think of other movies

Apocalypse Now is a fantastic movie, no doubt about it. I see the movie transcending above just a war movie though. It is so much deeper and thicker than other "Nam" or war movies.

The Deer Hunter was also an amazing movie. Long, but good. It too falls into the same category as Apocalypse Now, more than just a war flick.

I did forget to add one movie to my long list, and that is: The Bridge on the River Kwai.

EDIT: How did I forget Hamburger Hill, how?

Seeing as a person above mentioned LotR and Gladiator count, then:

Lord of the Rings
The Great Escape
Escape to Victory (Known as Victory in America)
Saving Private Ryan
Band of Brothers
Enemy at the Gates
War of the Worlds

I haven't seen Hamburger Hill. I should see that one, I really am picky about Vietnam Movies, I didn't like Platoon. But I did like Full Metal Jacket, Born on the Fourth of July, and Deer Hunter. Deer Hunter was one of my favorites.

I'm not a big fan of war movies really, but out of all the ones I've seen I've favored Platoon the most. Elias rules!
