Any Stargate SG1/Atlantis fans seen Universe?

So yeah like the title said. I personally dont like it, i've watched it purely because its Stargate but it's just bad imo. Dont really find the characters likeable. The setting is just too dark, literally dark, would it kill them fix the lighting on the ship. It lacks all the things the other two Stargates had: adventure, light humour, good storylines and themes, likeable characters.

Oh and the musical montages really grip my shit

I do not think it is a bad show, its a very intersting concept. I think you would probably see the same kind of results with any random group thrown together to survive. I like the idea of going away from a central enemy. Or you can think in some way the ship is the enemy and they are trying to put it back together to save their lives. I think the first season was a good start and I think season 2 will either maker or break.

I enjoyed the series. I mean, after 10 years or so (not sure how long it's been since SG1 came on Showtime), it is a pretty refreshing take on the stargate. There have been inconsistancies with the story. But for the most part, I like it.

ah, see i'm coming at it from the opposite side as I found SG1 too light & fluffy most of the time so barely watched it,
whereas universe I find very enjoyable

All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?

I haven't seen much of it, but I've liked what I've seen. I think it's a good idea to move away from the staples of the other Stargate shows so you don't feel like your watching recycled material. I think it definately shows the influence of BSG in terms of camera, set style and story arcs which are great ways to keep people interested in the show, but make it harder to watch if you've missed a few episodes.
