Default Shrek 4

Never been much of Shrek fan, but as pretty much the only thing on at the cinema this weekend that didnt involve sparkly vampires,the choice to see it pretty much made itself.
I enjoyed it for the most part, i have seen the others and i would say this is the best of the four movies, well i enjoyed it the most,plus it had a subtle pop at avatar.
Have to say that 3d did nothing for the movie, several scenes were present purely for the 3d, but like alot of cartoons 3d does not really add much to the film or experience and wasnt worth paying the extra for.
I wont bore you with the plot, its a kids film, so isnt going to tax you too much,watch it ,laugh at it, enjoy it.

On a more ranting note, was really pissed me off was the excessive amount of false advertising for 3d tv products prior to the movie, every large TV manufacture you can think of and sky bombarded me with adverts trying to flog me the 3d cinema experience for my own home, Being a bit of a film and tv junky i have extensively researched 3d tv and as far as i can tell the home versions of the technology is currently rated at utter bollocks and maybe upgraded to mostly bollocks in autumn 2010.
I am able to walk away from these adverts knowing the truth, but those adverts were not aimed at me they were clearly aimed at the 30 or 40 children sat in the audience who were all wearing there shrek 3d glasses(same as normal but green frames,go figure) and would natter the shite out of mummy and daddy for the next 6 months until they cave into buying a 2 grand of TV equipment only to find that they have been short changed.

i have to say i would love to see it but i am worryed botu the franchise. I knwo that thery intend to end it here but the films go as follows;
Shrek 1 - Great and now a classic
Shrek 2 - A rare "better than the original" film and thats sayign somthing
Shrek 3 - Bombed big time. Tho still a good moive on it's own, it just doesn't hold up with the rest of the films at all. (Lightning doesn't strike in the same place twice)

I took my kids last week and likewise enjoyed it, i don't know if i'd go as far as to say it was better than 1 and 2, but it was certainly on the same level, and far, far better than 3.

Glad to know the 3D wasn't much cop, as we just watched the 2D one

I really want to try out the 3D Tv to see how it looks, the technology needed to keep the resolution up for the cinema stuff is crazy, so i'm interested to see how they are presenting 3D tv.
