Default Got any advice? Help Needed

I've been asked to film a short clip of me answering a question on a camcorder so I guess getting a few ideas from you guys would be cool. Well, I don't have to do it but fuck it - why not? I'll post them here when I'm done.

Don't try to macho the answer up either, if you think blarting like a tart is needed I can do that.

Anyway, here's the question.

For the clip, I want each person to put themselves into the situation that the characters in Dead End are in, and answer one question. You are the last remaining humans on earth. Everyone you know is gone - killed by or turned into zombies. You are constantly moving trying to find somewhere safe. You know that at any point it could all end. The question that is asked is "what do you miss?".
Now how do I run this?

I have a few ideas but wondered what you think. Ideally the clip should be 2-3 minutes in length.

Well the society many of us enjoy at the moment is an idea of safety. Those of us in modern, secure collectives don't have to worry about doors being kicked in by bandits or barbarians or in this modern age agents of some repressive government. So I would say the biggest thing one would miss is the feeling of safety, pure and simple.

Sorry if philosophical wasn't what you were going for

Depends how good an actor you are

Personally i'd just pick the very first thing that came into my head when i read the question, as it's the thing you obviously feel most strongly about and you'd be speaking from the heart.

However , since it's an acting excercise it might be good to pick something different and try and appreciate another point of view.

Vanitus' loss of safety is a good one, or missing the structure of everyday life, perhaps even focusing on one thing like music or a certain food might be a good angle to explore.

I don't think there's anything wrong with manning up either, the burden of trying to lead those left alive and putting on a brave face whilst hiding your pain could be powerful.

Good luck with it

You could go with what Vash said but start in a calm and even tone of voice and slowly start working up to being completely agitated and freaking out.

one thing I want is the ability to split my fire everywhere, it makes no sense that a squad of 10 guard or marines or whatever all have to fire at 1 target with everything, is the guy with the lascannon not smart enough to realize maybe he would be better off firing at the massive tank looming overhead instead of the little man no bigger than a squat running at him, or is that far too complex for the 10yr olds?

If I was in the situation... Yes, if it actually happened , I would basically be shitting myself, concerned for myself, keep moving, pretty emotionally unstable.

I think you could say you miss just about everything of your "old" life, so like, proper meals, hot water might be a good one.

If i remember rightly Douglas adams does a pretty good freakout when the earth is destroyed in the hitch hikers guide to the galaxy.

Arthur Dent freaks out and it's pretty good comedic stuff so you could probably draw something from that.

kudos to lillian thorne for the awesome sig

It depends... do you mean "Miss" as in emotional attachment to something that is no longer there e.g. family, or is it something that you wish you had e.g. a gun with looooads of ammo?

Sorry, that was a bit silly.

I suggest that you could miss having control over your life. Even if you were in a job that demanded a lot from you, and you were busy/stressed out or whatever, you knew that your life was more or less totally in your hands and under your control. The zombie invasion has removed all of that from you and forces two choices on you - live or die. Suddenly your life doesn't give a shit what you want to have for dinner, or which car you want to drive, or who you want to go out with. You're forced into reacting all the time to things beyond your control and making the most of circumstances you would never have chosen. You no longer arbitrate your actions.

This might make you cynical about a life without freedom, despair of ever having an impact on the world, or possibly become very neurotic about the things you can control - your relationships with other survivors, habits you get into and so on.

90% of people think they are above average.

Statistically Improbable. Psychologically Inevitable.

I'd miss...

god bless those military contractors who thought of it.

Have you ever felt so at one with the world, with the universe, with everything that is, that you were overcome with love?

That is reality. That is the truth. What we make of it is up to us.

I'd miss Heresy

Seriously though - have you read World War Z? Might be worth reading for research.
