I would have thought a Kaiju fan like yourself would have been familiar with the seminal work of American stop-motion monster god Ray Harryhausen

THIS is the Kraken as far as I'm concerned

Here's some models of the classic Clash monsters, Kraken is bottom left

I'm pretty excited. The new kraken isn't a lame ass squid. I'm sorry, but even Harryhausen couldn't make cephelopods as cool as real monsters. Evidence: It Came From Beneath the Sea

VS the Harryhausen Classic Stock Monster as pictured in Clash of the Titans (above)

20 Million Miles to Earth

And the model's debut in Sinbad
http://www.cinemaisdope.com/news/fil..._of_sinbad.jpg

Way cooler than some lame ass invertebrate. I'm glad to see the new Kraken took its basic design from the classic, but without totally copying it.

I also approve of the dye job on the Pegasus. Black winged horse is a lot more badass than dainty white winged horse.

Nay. For the most part, my interest focuses on Kaiju from Japan. Never really been able to get into the American ones as, to me at least, they lack a soul. One exception is the American Godzilla from Godzilla 1998 and a couple of the enemies from the American animated series.

Psh. It looks so silly... the old one, I mean. The new one is badass enough that I can ignore its name and simply revel in its awesomeness.

What about Kong, or Mighty Joe Young? (I think Harryhausen did the original Mighty Joe young as well) Bah.
You want to see soul, seriously track down the original black and white Mighty Joe Young. Harryhausen did an amazing job making that ape look so sensitive and emotive emotive...granted, he's not very big on a Kaiju scale, but he's a good ten feet on his knuckles.

And the original Kraken was awesome. He had tentacle arms and a snake body and, admittedly, a low Petrification/Polymorph save, but it didn;t stop him from looking awesome back in the day.

Sure, the new one looks cool, but that's a million bucks worth of computer effects. $50 worth of rubber and wire is going to look dated in comparison

Again, not too big on the American ones. The original Kong was an amusing watch, but I didn't feel much from the King himself. Maybe it was the constant high-pitched screaming going on in the background that put me off of the movie?

As for Mighty Joe Young... will have to check that one out.

lol too true. That being said though, I still think that the Godzilla suit used from Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II (not to be confused with Kiryu from the Millennium series, I mean Mechagodzilla II from the Hesei series) looks better than any CGI monster ever made. Same with Giger's Alien, for that matter, but now we're getting off topic.

Boo The trailer looks even more formulaic than the first one. Finding it harder to be excited about this.

i war reading that the studio has given the director a shed load more cash because they loved what he had done so far so they are adding more stuff to the movie at the moment.

does look good and Sam worthington is doing pretty well for himself as an actor at the moment yet another Brit showing hollywood how its done.Apparently hes going to be flash Gordon too

HUGE BITZ RESTOCK NOW ON

I liked it much better than Kong. Just look at his eyes, he looks scared and confused most of the time. You really get the idea that the poor guy didn't know what was going on and was the real victim.

Highly recommended.

Wasn't really into the 1998 version though.

haven't seen the original so won't ruin anything for me, but Sam Worthington seems to be a good actor.
