Yup, tracking beacon sounds about right- it doesnt look like an ancient design and the series really cant be just about surviving and fixing the ship, it'll need some uber baddies to face at some point (though what they are after is a good question- maps back to our galaxy is the only thing the ship/crew has and if the badies have already been then they would have already got them).

I do think its funny that everyone trusts Eli though... would you really leave your life in his hands soon after meeting him?

tim/steve, that scene is more like they will trust the civilian who seems to have no real connections to the millitary or the sciences, over... the millitary or mr asshole science guy

trusting him over Rush anyday of the week... but its not just 1 scene, its almost every scene he's been in since the start of the programme.

Just watched the 3rd episode, am I the only one to be in no way surprised by the ending?
As cliffhangers go this one is more of a porch step... unless of course they have set it up to have such an obvious storyline in the next episode so that they can then spin off to something unexpected.

well im more talking that in general who would you trust more? the military? a crazy loner caffeine addicted scientist? or the average joe who seems to be very smart, but not restricted in his speech by being a marine and keeping everyone in the dark on things, or being a very anti social scientist who doesnt want to talk to people nicely, let alone tell others of the situation

I just watched the first episode (a bit behind I know) and i thought it was ok, nothing great so far.
I have watched all of SG I and a small bit of that spin off. But I do have one question I was pretty sure at the ene of SGI nearly all the Gual (Sp egyptain aliens) had been destroyed but Baal. So was it Baal that attacked them at the start.
Also has there been a new bad guy yet or are they still just fixing the ship ?

They DID mention in the first episode that the Destiny (AKA Big honking disabled Ancient vessel) had apparently been in some kind of fight/war... SOMEBODY/SOMETHING wanted it either captured or destroyed, but the ship was able to fight them off or escape while unmanned- Impressive.

I'm a big fan of the franchise but I don't quite know what to think of this yet it's good but they're trying to Galatica it up. Not that I mind.

Well I was wrong... it was the 4th episode that I had watched.
But as for the storyline yes, it was just that obvious- if it is so obvious that I could work it out then surely the 'geniuses' on Destiny should have known better (ok I will admit that they dont know that its only th middle of the series but still...)

Hands up all those who were actually surprised by the ship A-surviving and B-how it happened
