Default Best battle sequences in films

Hey guys i was wondering, what is the best battle you have ever seen in a film? Im talking scale, action, chaos, heroics, sacrifice, big-ass explosions etc.

Personally some of the battle sequences from Kingdom of Heaven are amazing, as well as the beginning of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith the big space battle over Coruscant was visally awsome!!

So, over to you...

Real Men/Women/Aliens/Heretics/Warp Spawned Filth/Big Scary Space Monsters play Battlefleet Gothic... why dont you???

Umm, the hand to hand fight in Hulk 2 against the soldier guy, that was awesome, looked like a fight against an imperial guardsman against an ork.

Also rocky vs apollo in rocky 2 was great.

gah at the moment I can only think of anime fights, most likly because the animators get a bigger budget, thus better fights, not to say that their arn't good fights in american and so films.

edit: AH, the marines vs aliens in alien 2, that was awesome, although it wasn't really a fight, more of a massacre.

Hell the first one that comes to mind is the Omaha beach assault from Saving Private Ryan. My god that was superb!

one thing I want is the ability to split my fire everywhere, it makes no sense that a squad of 10 guard or marines or whatever all have to fire at 1 target with everything, is the guy with the lascannon not smart enough to realize maybe he would be better off firing at the massive tank looming overhead instead of the little man no bigger than a squat running at him, or is that far too complex for the 10yr olds?

I think the battle for Helms Deep in the Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is just awesome. Especially the very end where Gandalf arrives with the Riders of Rohan. Great stuff.

The battle in Zulu is wicked fine.
I love taking the hill in "The Thin Red Line."
The 11 minute shot in Children of Men.

The opening battle in Gladiator, the helicopter scene in Apocalypse Now("I love the smell of napalm in the Morning..."), the parachute drop in the first episode of Band of Brothers was cool, the final mission in Memphis Belle was very tense. There's more that'll come to me as soon as I post, but htse will do for now.

EDIT: The climax of We Were Soldiers is another one.

Hate to say it but yes, I agree too.. it is a bit cliched now but thats only because it might just be the best war scene ever filmed, I just think nothing compares to it.

I have to second Helm's Deep. I love the whole siege scene with the rain coming down and the overwhelming odds, just awesome

No mercy for the weak!

In no particular order:

Saving Private Ryan (first and last sequences)
Helicopter assualt in Apocalypse Now
Equilibrium (running through corridors then pwning with a sword)
Return of the Jedi at the second Death Star
Opening sequence of the Fellowship of the Rings (where allied armies beat up on orcs/Sauron)

Tactica: Infantry Platoons
