The first battle scene in Enemy at the Gate where the Russians assault the Germans, get beaten back then get slaughtered by their own Commisars for "cowardice". It shows the grim reality of war from the Russians point of view and any scene like that is worth watching

Ive got a few favourite battle scenes. One is in Chronicles of Riddick where the Necromongers attack the soldiers in the ally while Riddick watches and get gunned down in a big fight, then the sceptre goes off and kills the soldiers.

I like the scene in the Golden Compass where the Gyptians fight the guards with help from the witches and Iorek.

I also like the scene in Attack of the Clones where the clone troopers and yoda arrive to save the jedi from the arena and fight the battle droids to escape.

American History X....

STOMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!

But in all seriousness...
LOTR the Two Towers: Battle of Helm's Deep.
LOTR the Fellowship of the Ring: Uruk'Hai vs. the Fellowship battle.
Gladiator: The final battle between Maximus and Comodus.
Last of the Mohicans: The final fight sequence where they're chasing after the chieftain with the two girls, the music is so EPIC and really gets you into the movie! If you've never seen it you really should!
Star Wars Episode III: The scene where Anakin is leading the Clone Army up the steps of the Jedi Temple.

I would have to say that would top my list of most sickening sounds ever made in a movie. You dont need to see what happens because the noise says it all

I have to agree with:

Saving private ryan- both the beach scene and where Tom Hanks is blasting away at a tank with a 1911 and then it blows up (due to aircraft, not the handgun)

Aliens- Just any battle scene in it.

Starship Trropers 1- again any/all battle scenes as it goes from blind chraging to actual tactics

Pokemon- yes mice slapping each other to death, excellent

X-Men Origins: Wolverine- where the black teleporty guy gets his spine crushed by sabretooth.

I'm not sure if it would count as a battle, but the end of Predator when arnie fights the Predator with real low tech stuff.

Street Fighter- Most battles in that are pretty good IMO

Quisnam praesumo, successio

I dont think its a great battle scene, but it probably has the best (most suitable) soundtrack of all time, certainly a great film... though if you are going for action I would say the artillery assault on the fort is as good as any in the film.

AGree with FORTHELION, the space battle against the borg in first contact is a classic, a much better battle then all those seen in "Star Trek", although they set the scene better and its an all round better film (love scotty and bones).
