Default District 9

Go see this movie. Yah, I know, it's got a lot of hype and not everyone will get this movie 100%, but dear god it's a good movie. Not like Harry Potter good, or Transformers good, but a ACTUALLY GOOD MOVIE. It's smart, has continuity, makes sense, touches on a varied amount of subjects (politics, humanity, etc), has a strong sense of drama, character & action.

I personally found it difficult to watch in certain ways; primarily because I wanted to stand up and scream at the characters for certain choices. But this movie wraps you in like that, it get's you involved through care and awe.

If you want to think, this is a movie for you. If you want drama, this is a movie for you. If you want action, this is a movie for you. If you want sci-fi, this is a movie for you. If you want gore, this is a movie for you. If you want satire, this is a movie for you.

It's been sooooooooo long since a truely good movie has come out. The only issue this movie has is that it's incomplete. Once you watch it you'll understand what I'm saying; there are a lot of questions unanswered. And while that was the intention and hit it's mark perfectly, it makes you counting the days until they're answered in hopefully a sequel. And for me to *want* to see a sequel to a movie, I take that as a very good sign.

Pondering...

I just watched the trailer for this and OMG i gotta see it!

Nyctophobia- Fear of the Dark Angel.

"No one ever spoke about of those two absent brothers. Their separate tragedies had seemed like aberrations. Had they, in fact, been warnings that no one had heeded?"

'Killing a man is like fucking, boy, only instead of giving life you take it. You experience the ecstasy of penetration as your warhead enters the enemy's belly and the shaft follows. You see the whites of his eyes roll inside the sockets of his helmet. You feel his knees give way beneath him and the weight of his faltering flesh draw down the point of your spear. Are you picturing this?'
'Yes, lord.'
'Is your dick hard yet?'
'No, lord.'
''What? You've got your spear in a man's guts and your dog isn't stiff? What are you, a woman?'

Yeah, District 9 was really good, especially for a first time director and a first time actor in the lead. The effects were nice and not over the top and the film had some nice bits of humor thrown in. I'd definetly recommend it.

Probably wanna slap some spoilers on that or something. Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean people wanna read about the final scenes of the movie.

Wow Choco, nothing like nearly giving the movie away. Added spoiler tags to your post so that people who don't want to know certain huge facts about the movie can avoid them.

one thing I want is the ability to split my fire everywhere, it makes no sense that a squad of 10 guard or marines or whatever all have to fire at 1 target with everything, is the guy with the lascannon not smart enough to realize maybe he would be better off firing at the massive tank looming overhead instead of the little man no bigger than a squat running at him, or is that far too complex for the 10yr olds?

I feel sorry for someone too.

District 9 was truly a good movie; it really did tackle a lot of controversial issues like race relations (apartheid especially), private military contractors, what first contact would be like, and so on. The movie really makes you think and get involved; by the end of the movie, I wanted to run towards the nearest living thing and kill it because I was so pissed off.

That, my friends, is a telltale sign of a good movie.

Is it totally unfair that it isn't out in the UK yet? And won't be until the 4th of next month?
