Default The End of Battlestar Galactica [Spoilers]

Did anyone else watch the last BSG with sadness and anger.

I've watched Bill Adama and crew fight for their lives the entire length of the universe and this is the ending they give us?

Laura Rosalyn? Dead
Starbuck? Dead
Sam Anders? Dead
Felix Gaeta? Dead
Boomer? Dead
Anastasia Dualla? Dead
Cally Henderson? Dead

Admiral Adama? Sat next to a corpse on a hill alone with nothing.
Lee Adama? Standing in a field alone with nothing.
Chief Tyrol? Stuck up a mountain... alone with...nothing.

Anyone seeing a theme here?

I'd rather see them all get blown apart in the final battle, ramming the cylons to fuck. Ramming speed!

The whole show left me feeling pissed off.

Then, to top it off they fast forward 150k years to robots dancing and Baltar talking to the lanky geezer bird, turns out its Earth they landed on with the cavemen...

What were they thinking? I felt like they'd ripped my heart out and kicked it to fuck.

Why was this kid "Hera" so important? They built up how important she was for years. It's a shame they didn't follow through and add her importance to the final show... She contributed nothing, except - were they hinting she was a corpse dug up a few years ago

I dreamt my own ending, they all whooped the Cylons arses, donned space suits and got pissed on the roof of the BSG dancing to Ibiza classics with a few spliffs.

To be honest I was intially a little 'this is odd' but as it went on I liked it, and I loved the way it finished over the last 20mins or so, really got me with Bill and Laura at the end and the general feeling of emotion.
I suppose they had to end it somehow, and the voice in baltars head turning out to be an actual guardian Angel, and Starbuck as well sorta made sense.

As to Hera, well if she's supposed to be who they are suggesting according to the show, then aye, shes pretty damned huge. Humanity pretty much as we know it is supposed to come from that one corpse, although I'm sure those more science minded than myself would understand the true implications of that real life find.

An hour or so after its finished I'm still sitting her smiling, some of the stand out moments for me was John taking the cowards way out, much better than anyone killing him and summed him up as a character. Galen Killing Tory, the whole bit where she was panicking was great, I wasn't sure what he was going to do, but it was a fair response in my opinion.
Helo being alive, I was worried there for a sec, he's been one of my fave characters through out the show.

I think I'm in general satisfied with it, not what I expected, but then perhaps thats not a bad thing. The ending in particular with the two angels in modern Earth threw up Ronald D Moore's final message based on the idea of 'All that has occured, will occure again" (or something like that, can't remember the exact line) which he saw as a theme for the show.

i could not have said it better myself. in a way, it makes us, currently, a part of BSG story.

i thought it was very open ended how they showed the robotics at the end of the episode, as if to imply that we are on the same path as before, or that we now have a mastery over robotics, and therefore cylons that allows us to not make the same mistakes as previous human civilizations.

beyond that, i didn't know what else to think about the last episode beyond that it met the super battle in space fanatics, and it closed out the 'existential' part of the show well.

to have it end in any other way would have been fan-boyish to me.

Well I think it was a joke ending.

The worst I've ever seen in any show!

The link to modern day earth was far fetched and pathetic. Hinting the kid was Mitochondrial Eve was lame. Why is that huge anyway? It's a corpse, big deal.

Fanboyish? You prefer pathetic and unbelievable with dancing robots. It was like some 80's cartoon that rams the morale of the story down your throat at the end. By all means kill them all off, but don't try to force your stupid opinion about robots onto me. The writer is a twat.

Overall I'm pretty annoyed by it. They took one of the greatest scifi stories ever and wrapped it all up in 30 minutes of stupidity.

Oh I can see why folks wouldn't like it Jez, and I'm not suggesting those who hate it shouldn't.

For me at least it was just a nice way to finish the characters, the giving up technology isn't that far fetched when you consider their adversaries had been made by them, and they just spent years couped up in massive technological tombs.

I agree with the Earth bit on the end, that was a little far fetched, and was an obvious attempt to put his message in at the end. Although remove that last scene and the actual way the characters had their last moments to me where sound. They'd all gone through the wringer, and I can compleatly understand why the 'Chief' would want to be alone after all that for example.

It does help for me that I've had more than a few pangs of Nostalgia for simpler times lately. I wouldn't want to give up the Computers etc, but I'd love to relax in my own Garden, growing my own veg etc. Maybe I'm getting old.

Although the ending was a lot like wall-E's ending, and I loved that one as well.

This might be the problem. I turned that off after 30 minutes, I wanted the annoying little prick to get stomped and switched off. I couldn't stomach it any longer. You know you shouldn't watch a film when you're hoping for the death of the protagonist.

I liked the final show quite a bit as well. In fact I don't honestly have too much to complain about aside from the fact that Hera kinda dropped off there after being built up so much. I love how the Opera House turned out to be the bridge of the ship though, cool nod to earlier parts of the show. All in all I thought it ended well, could have been worse.

one thing I want is the ability to split my fire everywhere, it makes no sense that a squad of 10 guard or marines or whatever all have to fire at 1 target with everything, is the guy with the lascannon not smart enough to realize maybe he would be better off firing at the massive tank looming overhead instead of the little man no bigger than a squat running at him, or is that far too complex for the 10yr olds?

i got the idea if we're all related to Hera, then we're all part Cylon. IMHO, that's a big deal as it pertains to the story.

i didn't get that at all. whether the ending was Ron Moore's opinion of robotics or not, i'm not sure. i thought the implication was that humanity is doomed to repeat the same mistakes as in the past.

the ending made me think of the Matrix movies...

I think i'll skip it.

Every other supporting character BUT Baltar get snuffed?

That is too much. I stopped watching in season 3 because they kept giving Baltar too much screen time. No offense to the actor, but I just can't stand the character. There are other characters in the show I don't like or am 'meh!' to, but he is the only one i really loathe.

Hey! Where'd ... Everybody ... go?

I really liked the ending to BSG. The 4th series went on..and on...and one a bit, however i thought the ending was good. I loved how the opera house became the bridge. I loved how the Chief got his own back for Cally. I loved how the song was the coordinates for our Earth. I like how the Toasters got "set free". Okay so we are left to assume that Starback was either an Angel or a ghost, and there was too much crying but it was great.

It was well thought out. It had a moral message without it being written on the side of a fish and then smashed into your face. The idea of "our earth" being discovered 150,000 years ago was a really twist.

Chief went to an island in the north which was mountainous and wet? Hmmmmmm.

All in all i think the 4th series dragged a bit, however the final episode was worth it.
