Default Watchmen

Alright all you heretics!

I've gone to see the IMAX opening night/midnight showing of the movie, and was personally blown away. I'm going to assume some others here have seen it.

Opinion time GOOOOO!!!!

Ehh...

It was a faithful adaption of the book, but it glorified the violence a bit to much and made the characters a bit too competent when it comes to fighting. They're normal humans, they've had lots of training, but they're not really the killing machines the movie portrays them as. Still all and all it was a lot better then I was expecting.

I really liked it, saw it in IMAX too, which was amazing. Yeah thats the thought I had to, that they really didn't go into that everybody but Manhatten was just a normal person, even Ozmendious (sp?). I like the change to the ending I don't think current audiences could handle the ending from the comic. I also think it'd be tough for regular people, not comic geeks, to get the story. People are used to Ironman and Batman, not the deep sometimes hard to puzzel out themes and messages of Watchmen.

Yeah, they're not the "ultimate killing machines" like other supes, but it was still like multiple martial art black belts going against mooks, so I can find the fight scenes believable.

On Ozymandias though, he wasn't a normal human being. He was a genius, the likes of which had never been seen, and was amazingly strong, fast, etc. That was how he beat up the Comedian with such ease. I mean, he could catch a bullet. You go ahead and try that! I'll watch, thank you.

And yeah, I really liked the changed ending. It makes a lot of sense, and was a REALLY good re-write. Much better than I expected.

Never read the comic to I don't know what was different about the ending, however, the movie itself was fantastic. I absolutely loved every single minute of it and didn't even realize how long it was until I was in the car to go home. Great story, great effects, everything. The only downfall of the movie was:

SPOILER

one thing I want is the ability to split my fire everywhere, it makes no sense that a squad of 10 guard or marines or whatever all have to fire at 1 target with everything, is the guy with the lascannon not smart enough to realize maybe he would be better off firing at the massive tank looming overhead instead of the little man no bigger than a squat running at him, or is that far too complex for the 10yr olds?

The reason Dr. 'hat'n was a nudest was because he could do whatever the fuck he wanted and no one had the power to say no. On top of that he's unafected by tempurature, and therefore is more comfortable nude.

I will however say that the camera gave it way to much attention (it would have added some humer if they had done a bart in the simsons movie rutiene with it through the movie) I blame the camraman not the wrighter.

As far as the blood& gore, it comes with the pacage- the comic was if anything worse. (exept in realism maby) Although they did change Roshaks (I am NOT spelling his name.) little fiasco a bit for the worse but meah.

Anyway, I only got half way thru the comic before seeing the movie, and I thaguht the movie's end made more sence. The good doctor is much more intimidating IMO.

This is my final analysis: The end was perfect because its so flexible.

Poibility #1: The jornal (published by the newspaper he sent it to) publishes, and the world disbelieves it (continued world peace in fear of Xenos/DR)

Posibility #2: The jornal publishes, and everyone finds out about Adrian, and goes nuke happy. (Nuklear armageadon)

Posibility #3:The fat guy has the brains not to publish the jornal, continued world peace (in fear of things)

Poability #4: The jornal gets published and everyone believes it, but, since world peace is going so well, everyone ecides to go on being hapy. (Continued world peace and hapyness)

I think it says somthing about Inkface that he was willing to risk armageadon to give humanity the choice, on the faith that they would chose world peace. (th guy has some sirrious isues though =D)

I enjoyed it, overall. It certainly wasn't as good as the graphic novel, but condensed movies based on something so epic rarely are.

My biggest complaint was the actor playing Ozymandias. I think his accent got in the way of his lines a bit too much. Someone as charismatic as Adrian Veidt should have the difficulty speaking that came across on the film. The dude playing Rorschak was freaking amazing, though!
