platoon aint bad, simply because it reflects what vietnam was really like.

and the fact ive never heard so many ' fucks ' or ' mother fuckers ' ever before in my life.

anyone mentioned zulu yet? i love it , it shows how we brits once kicked ass like the usa today, well in ww2

however my favorite of them all is team america, fuck yeh! :D

Not really a movie, but Band of Brothers was pretty epic. Plus I watched em all in one day the first time, so it was like a reaaaaaaaally long movie. :D

I'd say 300 is probably my favorite 'war' movie. Epic shit there.

Apocalypse Now! is possibly my favourite film of all time, o at least one of them, but in my heart, I never class it as a war film. It's "The Heart of Darkness" set in vietnam to me. It's not as if there was much war about it other then the helicopter bit and the fact it's set during a war, hehe.

Loved platoon. Pretty much based off Oliver Stone's experiences, good soundtrack too.

Black Hawk Down started good, but I found it getting a bit tedious at the end. Enjoyed it for the most part though.

ONCE were soldiers was naff. Despite a great performance from Mel Gibson (apparently he was exactly how the bloke he was acting as really was) I just couldn't believe in him. Too big a celebrity. Same for Tom Hanks in Saving Private Ryan, which uined it for me. Shaving Ryan's Privates on the other hand....

For (fairly) modern naval battles check out Sink the Bismark or the one about the German battle ship the Admiral Graf Spee, I think it's called the Battle of the River Plate.

KF's Journey Through His Plastic Crack Addiction. 40k, Flames of War, Bolt Action, and more.

saving private ryan sucked for me, i mean the first half an hour is great yet the actual plot is weak.

300 kinda sucked as well, the plot was ruined but the fight sequences and the camerawork plus gerard butlers acting wasn`t bad

for me you can never get a war film right unless its a true story or you`ve got someone who was there ( obviously for 300/ troy / gladiator that can be hard ) then it dosent feel right, the only anomalie is great escape.

as for modern naval combat theres plenty of submarine films, well according to my uncle but hes often stoned

sounds like my uncle too...
Come to think of it, but pirates of the carribean really did have some good naval combat scenes in it.

the beast, a flick about a Russian tank crew during the war with Afghanistan. There are scenes that show the short-sightedness of Russian doctrines of the time.

check out the entropic reaper or remain a vagrant on the sidewalk of life.
