All the old Vietnam films for me.

Full Metal Jacket, Apocalypse Now, Platoon, Hamburger Hill.

These new camera on the shoulder efforts are shit.

Enemy at the Gates was good. Saving Private Ryan, Midway, Blackhawk Down, Glory, Patton, and 300 are my favorites. I also enjoyed Kingdom of Heaven.

*sigh* I have to point out that despite what you see in games, lasrifles win wars. Just because lasrifles suck at killing superhuman killing machines in power armor does not mean that they are bad weapons. You are shooting them at the wrong targets. The most common enemy the Imperium faces is lightly armored humans armed with lasguns or autoguns, NOT SPACE MARINES.

the best in my opinion would have to be ZULU

5th Edition results:

EMPERORS CHILDREN: W:23 L:6 D:3 (On Hiatus)
Iron Warriors: W:7 L:0 D:0
NECRONS: W:12 L:8 D:1

Of those mentioned, I always liked Glory, Patton, Full Metal Jacket, Apocalypse Now and Midway.

A few others:

Gettysburg; Gods and Generals; Tora, Tora, Tora; The Longest Day; and The Great Escape (technically a prisoner of war movie, but there you are).

Most war movies suck gratuitous ass.

And they usually get things DRAMATICALLY wrong.

I'll mention the few I like whose names I can recall.-

Platoon (overrated? Most certainly. But it's still good.)
Apocalypse Now
The Thin Red Line (if you hated it, congratulations, you must have the attention span of a gnat)
The Blue Max
Cross of Iron
Hamburger Hill
Das Boot
All Quiet on the Western Front (book's better, but what the hell, isn't it always that way?)
Ran
Tora! Tora! Tora!
The Longest Day
Letters From Iwo Jima (it got a lot of things wrong, but its heart was in the right place)

Saving Private Ryan was crap, with the exception of two scenes- Normandy, and the bit where they listen to Edith Piaf and wait for the Germans.

Enemy at the Gates was also crap, except for the Volga crossing.

Full Metal Jacket was an excellent boot camp movie with a mediocre Vietnam War movie tacked onto the end of it like a hastily-stitched on kite's tail.

thin red line was great?!! there was maybe 5 minutes of dialogue and the rest was running in the fields getting gunned down and exploding. wasted my time. i mean, sure the action was great, but can we have some more dialogue or a better storyline? i must agree that the book all quiet on the western front was great, but i've never seen the movie.

That would be your problem. Please see my earlier crack about gnats.
