All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?

well i guess im gonna have to add Top Ger to this list, seems the BBC is doing its damned best to destroy itself, I will admit its very poor form to get into a punch up with a work mate but the best way to handle this would have been to see if the people involved could make ammends and put it behind them for the sake of the show(and other employees), a drunken night out with work mates can lead to heated exchanges and fights, the guilty party doesnt have to loose there job, from an employment law point of veiw, dismissing a person is an option but it should only be a last resort, even if someone is on a final written warning an employer can still show leaniancy if they want to, particualy if that will effectively(in this case) end a very very popular tv show and leave many other people out of work, they could have ordered him to seak counciling, reduced his salary for the next season. made him publicly appologise and explain his actions on the show.

I think he has fallen foul of the saville case where it looks like the BBC did very little to control many of its stars back in the day despite been aware of what they were doing, the horse has bolted Beeb, if you keep getting rid of your edgey talent your audience will go with it and the less relevant you become and the more likely it is for people to look at forcing you to become comercial, which i have to say will likely kill you.

HUGE BITZ RESTOCK NOW ON

It would not have surprised me if they somehow worked out how to pull the plug on this later this year when they had to sort out contracts with the 'stars' again.

Yes it made allot of money, but it wasn't a cheep show to make. And viewership was falling.. Also ending it before 'its time' keeps a element of value to the brand that they will be able to milk for a many years without the cost of making new episodes.

I was supprised it happened, but I was expecting it to end in 2011...

yup the viewing numbers have dipped but i think thats pretty much happened across the board for the BBC, TV is becoming less relevant particularly for the "watched when broadcast" viewing numbers, but as a package Top Gear generates a huge amount of income for the BBC, far more than the cost to produce the show, im sure the reruns on Dave will obviously bring in some revenue in the year to come, but i simply dont see how the brand will carry on, without the three "stars" i wont watch it next year if it comes back, i dont watch it for the car reviews, other than the colourful way they like to review a super car that i can never afford, i watch it for the banter and comedy between three friends and the crazy car based challenges, with that chemistry gone its just gonna be fifth gear...

im just annoyed, my anger should be focused towards Clarkson really as if the stories are to be believed he is directly to blame for his own sacking, but as someone who has had to manage people in the past and sack them, i know that it is possible to work out these situations between two work mates and get past them, without it being a white wash or a cover up, it does just feel like the BBC have looked for a way to reduce the cost of the show or maybe remove it altogether.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of this was that Clarkson did not want to work with the BBC, he gets to storm out and even go somewhere eless and take his personal 'Brand' with him.

But yep.. Iam slighty dispointed, but I was expecting the show to implode from 2007 onwards. (its why I kinda watched)

Not cancelled as such because they still make episodes now and then, but I wish they'd continued making regular series of Jonathan Creek

Because I finally got around to finishing it's short fifth season, Warehouse 13 and because I'm mentioning that may as well add in Eureka and Sanctuary as others I think that got canned too quickly, funny how all three are SyFy Shows.

Some of my favorites that I can agree with. My brother and I enjoyed both Warehouse 13 and Eureka and I enjoyed Sanctuary. Some of the best series in recent times to come out of SyFy IMHO.

My youtube channel. Feel free to stop by and have a look if you're interested. I do Airsoft, some warhammer related videos, and gaming videos.

R.I.P. Uncle Lee. You will be greatly missed by us all. We will see each other again some day.
