HBO's Carnivale deserved to go another session or two.

I agree with Lie to Me, loved that show, but it never really stood a chance.

Farscape, meh I think it got a good crack and Peacekeeper Wars settles most of the ongoing plots.

the last word on it from O'Bannon (back in September) was that it was looking very unlikely now, another web series was the most likely thing to happen

All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?

I agree with Lie to me, Farscape and Human Target.

Firefly is the big one though. I wonder who made that decision.

That would be Geil Berman, former president of Fox Network. He had this to say about it:

In short, for all the fandom it had, people sucked ass at supporting it when it was actually on the air. However, it's much easier to say it was the holy chocolate jesus of television after it is cancelled.

Sorry if I sound bitter, but I was one of the guys who saw it on television along with the 5 others. Once it got pulled and the internet absolutely exploded, all I could think was "Where were all you fuckers when it actually mattered?"

Agreed, such an awesome show to just be left hanging like it was, Deadwood was another great one that ended before it's time.

To Be Honest, It just wasn't that good. It has become a bit of a Cult now and it was very hard to be objective when it was first on TV because there was so little sifi on TV. But If it was to Air this year, It may have a very similar reception.

Though please note, I do love Firefly and have watched it many many times, but 10 years on.. I think we should be a bit objective from time to time. (Especially as we are in such a 'Golden Age' of Geek/Sifi TV)

Carnivale was a really risky show, there was and is nothing like it,
as much as I liked it, I expected it to be cancelled half way through the first series.

Deadwood is an utter mess, it wasn't actually cancelled per se, it was all because the main guy jumped ship (Milch) to create another show for HBO,
it caused an awful lot of trouble for HBO because of the way they allowed it to happen with several big actors (and people behind the scenes too) refusing to work with them again.

Trying not to sneak up on you with an axe here.

Most sci-fi shows have terrible first series,
firefly started fairly well but Fox barely advertised it and chopped the episodes (and the running order) all over the place.

Had Firefly aired for another channel (not syfy) today I am fairly sure it would take off

I agree... Alot, The missed potential is huge. But when I see Firefly listed on Things like 'MY TOP 5 Sifi Shows' I cry slightly, because its only got the visibility because of the cult status it has.

Other great shows got cut very early as well.
