Default Godzilla.

Has anyone else seen it, yet?

I went to watch it yesterday, and I loved it. I can't think of, right now, a piece of criticism.

Nyctophobia- Fear of the Dark Angel.

"No one ever spoke about of those two absent brothers. Their separate tragedies had seemed like aberrations. Had they, in fact, been warnings that no one had heeded?"

'Killing a man is like fucking, boy, only instead of giving life you take it. You experience the ecstasy of penetration as your warhead enters the enemy's belly and the shaft follows. You see the whites of his eyes roll inside the sockets of his helmet. You feel his knees give way beneath him and the weight of his faltering flesh draw down the point of your spear. Are you picturing this?'
'Yes, lord.'
'Is your dick hard yet?'
'No, lord.'
''What? You've got your spear in a man's guts and your dog isn't stiff? What are you, a woman?'

I saw it yesterday as well, and it was freaking awesome!! I too don't really have any criticisms, my brother thinks that Bryan Cranston was underused but I think his character arc was fulfilled and that him dying was a good way to end his story.

Godzilla, now he was the best thing about the movie. Every scene he's in he dominates, even if it's just his back or his tail appearing, like those scenes early on when you can see him in the ocean just before the A-bomb attacks. His roar, that is a sound that makes the world so silent. It just dominates the movie every time he lets it loose. My favourite part though was the atomic breath, as soon as I saw the blue light I knew what was coming, and it was every bit as epic as I hoped it would be. Especially the last time he used it, now that was an awesome kill.

I also really liked the Mutos, both of them felt like dangerous and also unique opponents for Godzilla. The male being quicker and airborne while the female has the muscle mass and size to take Godzilla on directly. I read somewhere some people felt that Godzilla should have been able to take on both of them, no problem, but considering that the female was nearly his equal in size and most likely in the same league in strength, and the male obviously being faster and more mobile than him; together they made a team that even Godzilla struggled to beat and I quite liked that because it meant that it was possible for Godzilla to be killed, I didn't think he would be but the possibility that he could be kept me on the edge of my seat.

The only thing that I think would have made the movie better is if Godzilla and the Male Muto's confrontation in Hawaii was shown fully, an early fight to tide the audience over until the big final confrontation.

Will be getting this on Blu-ray DVD the very instant it's available.

I liked the Mutos a lot, personally. I didn't have a problem with Godzilla not being able to take them both on, the female was as large as him, the male was quicker - Godzilla was painfully slow - And, more than that, there was two of them. I read that they only have the rights to Godzilla - Thus the Mutos - But if this is successful, and I'm sure it will be, I'm hoping that they'll be able to acquire the rights to the rest of the kaiju - Anguirus and Rodan are my favourites - And they'll get the treatment that they truly deserve.

Well this is good to hear. After the last godzilla I saw with the 1000 babies I was really put off and was not going to watch this movie. I still think godzilla looks like the over grown version of the Trex from jurasic park in the commercials but with two solid recommendations I think I will give this one chance and go see it. I am a big godzilla fan I grew up watching it on tv so nice to hear this got treated right.

I'm hoping for either King Ghidorah or Destroyah, either one would be epic.

Dear holy shit, that was a BIG FUCKING MONSTER.

Very, very good monster film, even if I could still have done with more of the big guy and less humans; all memories of the '98 shitfest are successfully erased. The first big reveal shot of him is just apocalyptic (and deafening...dat roar...woah), and the MUTOs are very interesting monsters too; a *lot* of people die, there's no pussyfooting around with collateral damage at all, but never a sense of Bay-esque "lots of people exploded isn't it cool lolz" glorying in the casualties (and, joyously, no bullshit motion blur and excessive speed hiding what's actually happening), it's almost offhand in how it deals with the massive amounts of destruction...

...and there is one moment in particular that really harks back to a particularly beautiful shot in 'Monsters', Edwards' previous film, which would pretty much have won me over even if The Big G's awesomosity hadn't; you'll know it when you see it.

Oh yeah, did I mention that Godzilla is *really fucking huge*? Loved it.

And yes, casting my vote for King Ghidorah - for my money always the most dangerous and the most monstrous monster in the entire 'Zilla canon - for a sequel. Given how colossal and impressive Edwards made Big G, imagine what he could do for Ghidorah...

Just will throw my voice in for this movie rocks. They hit all the beats of a classic Godzilla film. The final confrontation between the monsters brought cheers and whoops from the preview audience I saw it with.

If you like giant monster movies...see it.

I liked it, but i didn't love it.

The monster scenes are fantastic, there's genuine shock and awe sequences that are fantastically shot. As others have said it's a huge relief to see these fights play out from a good angle and not have to catch glimpses through close-up, shaky cam bullshit.

All my issues in this film come from the human aspect. Mostly everything the humans do is ultimately pointless, nonsensical or stupid, seemingly acting as filler until the monster scenes. Luckily the monster scenes are worth waiting for when they arrive.
