Can't we just write off the whole Ep1-3 debacle as a bad dream?

On Jake LLoyd though, I really thought him being a blond haired all american hero sucked. I would have thought a dark haired, more freaky, weird damien like character would have been more interesting, struggling with the good and bad from the start not a perfect hero kid who suddenly goes nasty.

Episodes what......?

Yeah, young Anakin would have been much better as a bad kid giving his all to be good. And failing.

I think Jim Carey actually does pretty well in a serious role, he is quite mawkish sometimes but films like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Majestic showcase him pretty well. He's just to type-cast you'll rarely see him do anything good.

he doesnt suddenly go nasty, it happens over a long period, plus he starts life as a slave, who knows what watto was doing to him behind the racks?

anyway, i agree with aramoro , Carey was excellent in spotless mind and Majestic, so much so im going to dig out my copy of Majestic and have a watch.
but he was terrible in number23.
