I loved it right up to the ending, then it became more of a strong liking.

I was wrong. The movie kicked much ass. Ending was a bit Meh but the rest of the movie made up for it.

Give that man ALL THE GOODAM MONEY TO MAKE MOVIES. Shooting it that way could be a motherfucking master stroke. Building a cockpit for the actors that actually reacts to their movements and forces to them to react to others? Brilliant.

resisting urge to convert the grey knight dreadknight into a Jaeger! wouldn't be true scale, I probably wouldn't use it, just a model to convert of Gypsy Danger or Stryker.

My opinion? Honestly I was slightly disappointed.

Don't get me wrong - the concept, the fight scenes, the monsters were all awesome. But the dialogue and plot sucked so much dick even Nick Clegg got jealous. Seriously, there was little/no effort made in those respects which I completely did not expect from del Toro. Two and a half hours long, and I have no idea where most of that time went. Things that should have been developed weren't, and instead we get extended slow-motions of irrelevant scenes.

Despite my rantings about sensible things I still enjoyed the film for what it was - action porn with robots and aliens.
