It's a Guillermo Del Toro movie. After seeing Pan's Labyrinth I expect much greater things from him than mindless entertainment. I'm sure he'll give us far far more than that with Pacific Rim.

He has said its going to be a beautiful poem to monsters. It's basically a homage to Japanese monster movies like GodZilla. Hence why the monsters are called Kaiju in the film. Here's a blueprint of one of them

I am interested, not sure if I will watch it in theater or wait for the bluray. Thanks for the heads up Aramoro. On the road I miss a lot of movie adverts.

This is either going to be the single most retarded thing ever to hit theaters OR brilliant. Either way, I am ok with it.

As a self-aware homage to Godzilla I think it's going to be ok, I have a lot of faith in Del Toro.

HAHA. This is how I imagine the defense meeting went

Clerk: Aliens are invading earth what should we do?

General #1: We should make some type of nuclear weapon to launch at the creatures.

General #2: We should figure out a way to close the portal

Head of State: Fuck all that, were gonna build giant robots and have giant robo v monster battle in the middle of the ocean.

General: ......Okay what weapons are we going to give them

Head of State: Weapons? Don't be a bitch. They'll have their fucking fist.

Generals: But Sir.....

Head of State: ROCKET PUNCH!!!!

That being said, I'm going to watch the shit out of this movie.

Yes, but he also gave us Blade II and Hellboy II. Don't get me wrong, I'm still going to go see it because no matter what his movies are gorgeously otherworldly.

When I saw the trailer, I thought of Big O, especially that last punch.
