Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 Trailer

First off, this is NOT The Dark Knight Rises. This is Frank Miller's four-issue mini-series The Dark Knight Returns from 1986, which has now been adapted as an animated two-part film. Part 1 is slated for September 25. Peter Weller voices the now crusty old Caped Crusader.

(Sorry, I can't seem to embed the player correctly.}

I can only hope that certain scenes make it in (this is spoiler-heavy, you have been warned). One would be Batman...

Okay, I better stop getting my hopes up. DC is handling it, so I can only hope they do not screw this up.

The art looks incredibly close to Klaus and millars, and judging from the trailer it looks panel for panel. Should be very cool.

I'm sure they'll stick to the story, but i'm interested to see whether they use the mutants slang as much as they do in the comic.

Looks like they're sticking pretty close to the source material. Might actually get this.

Finished: Too Much Love Will Kill You (working title), an original fiction novel. Working on: Second draft of Too Much Love, and the first draft of A Winter's Tale (working title).

Dark knight strikes again. It was a very different animal, and i don't think it held up anywhere close to DKR.

Hush and year one are awesome though. War Games and Batman 100 are also really good but get few mentions.

YES! THAT WAS IT! THANK YOU! I haven't really read those books can you give the outline plot around these books. I'd really like to get the knightfall comics and shadow of the Bat comics too! I think Victor Zsaz is one fucked up character!

War games is a great illustration of Batman's complete tactical lunacy, paranoia and tendency to be a control freak. It's quite a long run which revolves around gang warfare in gotham, and batman's relationship with robin(s). Black Mask is the gritty big bad throughout. There's a follow up run called War Crimes as well.

Year 100 is a sort of Batman meets blade runner affair. It's set in 2039, and a low-tech, gritty Batman is taking on a dystopian government. It's not the character you'd expect, but it's well written and an interesting take on bats.

War Games and Year 100 sound interesting.

I may look into this. (I haven't picked up any of Bats' titles since Knightfall. And I'm really leery of the 52 reboot.)
