The Dark Knight Rises

The main challenge was to beat the hype. The incredible ridiculous amount of hype surrounding this film has been hard to avoid, and seems almost impossible to live up to.

I can't say that it's the best film of the trilogy. But it's a fantastic film, a satisfying conclusion, and i don't give a shit about the hype anymore. Loved every second.

DISCUSS IN SPOILERS PLEASE!

I'm going to see it in a couple of hours, and I can't wait. The Dark Knight is my favourite movie, so I'm really excited.

How did you feel about Bane? I am really having a hard time getting past the fact that he looks rather.... small in the trailers. They may not have been able to find someone physically as tall as the comic Bane is supposed to be but at the very least they should have been able to find someone who is much larger than average.

one thing I want is the ability to split my fire everywhere, it makes no sense that a squad of 10 guard or marines or whatever all have to fire at 1 target with everything, is the guy with the lascannon not smart enough to realize maybe he would be better off firing at the massive tank looming overhead instead of the little man no bigger than a squat running at him, or is that far too complex for the 10yr olds?

I have 2 issues with bane, one spoiler related and 1 to do with his voice (it's awesome but difficult to hear in 2 scenes)

Physically, and as a presence i thought he was huge. Hardy isn't massive, but he's bulked up to the nines for the role. A combination of good acting, use of sound, blocking and cinematography really compensate for what he's lacking physically.

Just seen the film and will agree with Varakir that it lived up to the hype, but I prefer it to the Dark Knight. Epic storyline, epic action scenes, fantastic actors, better than The Avengers.

Verdict: 5/5

Saw it at IMAX. Was impressed definitely, but left me wanting in some places.
.

All in all I most definitely liked it, but I feel dissatisfied in places.

Oh and Anne Hathaway.

This is the one movie for which I have not had a single spoiler. The only thing I knew about it before watching it was, uh, the name. Not a single trailer, advertisement or anything was seen before the movie. Been avoiding TV and all sites that I knew would be posting stuff about it. Also, thank god for Adblock.

And the movie was fucking awesome. I loved every second of it. Easily 5/5 imo.

It more than lived up to the hype. I sympathized for Hardy, having to play the villain that followed Ledger's role as the Joker. But wow did he do an amazing job as Bane, top quality acting all round. The score too, was fucking fantastic. It really helped to make the film what it was. A lovely finish to the trilogy. It certainly exceeded my expectations (which were already bloody high) and has passed the Dark Knight in my ratings. I've just got back from seeing it and am still struggling to put into words just how highly I rate this film.

Regards,
Jake.
