Default The Wolverine Casting News

Just thought that those of us on here who are X-Men and/or Wolverine fans would find this bit of information useful. Apparently, it's meant to be starting shooting in August, with a scheduled release date of 26 July 2013.

After the last few X-Men movies (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, I'm looking at you!) I'm not sure how excited to be. First Class was better then X2, X3 and Wolverine, but still not as good as the first movie.

They've cast Japanese actors as... Japanese?! (As an Asian, this is a pet peeve of mine--casting actors into roles that specify a different ethnicity.)

But I digress. If this is based off the four issue miniseries from way back when, then I am a very happy camper (I will be disappointed and be filled with nerdrage only after seeing the film and only if the occasion demands it).

I too am confused with the split casting of Mariko's father--maybe one is going to be husband-to-be? (I seem to remember Mariko had an arranged marriage at the beginning.)

I'm wondering how they'll design the Silver Samurai since I don't know if I could take someone in overlapping silver plate with the Japanese Imperial sun on the chestplate swinging a sword around seriously.... *looks over as space marine minis* Okay, never mind.

I was never really into Mariko to be honest. She was always the damsel-in-distress more than the yakuza princess (a female heir, usually fully away and supportive of the family "business"), and that never sat well with me.

On the other hand, I really do like Yukio and not just because she was an attractive woman in a black leather catsuit. I remember her as a reckless daredevil who usually had something snarky or witty to say. It was a nice counterpoint to Wolverine who was usually serious or brooding or both.

God, I hope this isn't as bad as Origins.

I think that is the mantra of all marvel fans.

Casting looks nice, seen good things from all of the male actors. Elektra proved to us just how badly you can mess up an adaptation, so i won't get my hopes up just because it seems to be based on a certain story arc.

Just hope it's not as bad as origins

Very nice choice of actors, from what I have seen/heard in the past most of those guys are BIG names overseas.
