Default Favourite Horror Movie

I want to know peoples favourite horror movies and why it's that one. Let people know if it's an original release or a remake and why you preffer that version of it.

You may also like to mention your favourite horror theme.

For me my favourite horror movies are Zombie horrors, not the new ones where they can run and jump massive distances. No, the slow moving easy to get past but scary as a herd zombies.

Movie of choice: The original Dawn of the Dead

For me it's anything that makes me think over and above simple blood and guts, although I do love a good gore film too. I'm not a fan of modern horror or torture porn though, Hostel and Saw are not what I would class as horror, although I did enjoy Paranormal Activity, a good take on the classic ghost story.

Film of choice would have to be The Shining by Stanley Kubrick.

Don't know if it is strictly a horror film but it is a "thriller" - The Cube.

This might be stretching it a bit, but: Army of Darkness - The Medieval Dead

Otherwise it would have to be: An American Werewolf in London

I'm not a huge horror fan and don't really like the blood and gore stuff of current times. What got me interested originally was Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead.

Zombie flicks for me as well. And like the OP, the original Dawn of the Dead is probably my fave.

Also up there for me: Evil Dead, and on the comedy/horror side Zombieland and Shaun of the Dead are amazing.

I can't choose just one!

Shaun of the Dead is the closest I'll get to liking horror. Definitely not my genre of choice.

The Black Typhoons | Dark Angels 3rd Company | Tharrus Draw's Warband | Dark Angels' Corner | Codices: Marvel Heroes and Marvel Villains

Stephen Kings "It". Why? As a kid (about 8) I watched this at a friends and it freaked me the f&Łk right out, all of my other friends harped on about the "freddy" films but when I saw them after all I could do was laugh! I've watched it many times since and I do admit that when I watch it now it really is a pretty average film however it will always be the one that got me, none have ever since (clown and giant spider what that all about)

All my geek friends give me crap cause I've never seen all the Star Wars movies (I've seen 1 of each trilogy), nor the Lord of the Rings movies.

The games I play are fantasy and sci-fi, but dammit, when it comes to movies, horror is where it is at.
