Default The Hunger Games

I haven't read the books, but apparently this is the next big thing. It comes out in 2012, and it's based on the books by Suzanne Collins. I might go and watch it if it gets good reviews, but I doubt it'll be any good though.

Thoughts?

I've read 2 out of 3 of the books, and it is a very original and complelling series. However, the quality and interest does degrade as the series progresses, so I'm doubtful over whether the film will be very true to the novel, and instead condense it so much that the emphasis of the storyline of oppression is lost. Seems worth a look at any rate though, as I can imagine there'll be some good scenes judging by the books.

I just read the first one. Can't call the premise of the games themselves original, for anyone who has read King/Backman's "The Running Man" it will seem very familiar in principle.

But it was a good read, will be looking forward to this.

Girlfriend gave me the books to read, they were pretty good. I get the feeling that the series was pushed in the direction it went by the publisher, as some aspects of the second and third book feel very rushed or glossed over.

Can't wait for the movie, as their cast for every supporting character from the books is amazingly spot on.

I just finished the first book a couple days ago and I enjoyed it. Not the best written book ever but very very far from the worst. I look forward to this movie, though I doubt I will line up at midnight to see it. I also like Woody Harrilson (or whatever the bloody hell his last name is, the guy from Cheers who wasn't the main bartender but still worked there who replaced that one guy after he died) and think he will be good in the role he has.

Finished: Too Much Love Will Kill You (working title), an original fiction novel. Working on: Second draft of Too Much Love, and the first draft of A Winter's Tale (working title).
