Heartbreak ridge is a good film, althouhg not one of my favorite war films.

That has to be reserved for Zulu.

But then I like loads more such as Cross of Iron, The Longest Day and The Guns of Naverone.

Favourite war film you say...

Non-Fictional war film ill say: Black Hawk Down

War documentry: Armadillo (it's about the Danes in Afghan, Proper nails like)

Then as Sharpe as a box set. It is regimental history after all.

HUZZAH!

Let the Galaxy Burn.

Most have been mentioned, but no ones mentioned the 9th Company!

Also, BoB and the Pacific needs mention.

The Pacific although harder to get involved with the characters it had some really gritty fucked up moments. (Exploding mother and child anyone)

I thought Black hawk down was based on the battle of moga dishu, or however its spelled.

"Camouflage is the colour of fear... I have no need to hide from my foes... I have no fear of death. My colours I wear openly, they proclaim louder than any words, "I am proud to live! - I am proud to die!".

Boy in the Stirped Pyjamas was an excellent movie.

For sheer awesome I'd go with Platoon.

Effects and gritty realism (aside from the retarded plot) Saving Private Ryan.

Casualties of War was a nice film too. (good plot, not nice as in happy plot)

How about Catch 22 which is another good one.

Almost forgot WW1 films.

Galipolli is a classic, but I do really like Aces High.

Try reading about them. The actions for the most part aside from changed names (which are then noted in the Historical Notes) are accurate for most intents and purposes.

Must troll harder.

Black Hawk Down, Restrepo, Jarhead, Brothers, Generation Kill, Hurt Locker, The Green Zone, The Kingdom, Hunt For Eagle One, Behind Enemy Lines.

And Ultimate Force, definately.

I like the ones like Enemy at the Gates, Schindler's List, Downfall.

Behind Enemy Lines was good as well.
