Shas'O Farsight's Seven Samurai

Anyhow, I'm thinking of running a Seven Samurai build in Apoc that'll contain Farsight and 6 bodyguards.

What the hell should I put in to maximize them?

Twinlinked flamers and plasma rifles to pour on some wounds before assaulting.
Then hope it's not a close combat unit you're fighting.

Plasma Rifles and Missile Pods, so you can kill anything. 4 mid-high Strength shots with mid-low AP is pretty good.

Hmmm.

Okay, what about 2 with twinlinked flamers, 2 fireknives, 2 helios (TL Meltas) and Farsight?

Nah, you're mixing roles there. Mixing is a bad plan, and it's one of the reasons why units such as the Seven Samurai aren't very good; if you take half Flamers and half Fusion Blasters, you will ALWAYS be wasting half the squad. Then again, if you take all Flamers, just how dead do you need something to be? Or ten Fusion Blasters - just how many AP1 hits do you need? Even then, it would be more beneficial to take two teams of three instead of one team of six - you have the same number of shots but can split fire and spread yourself out across the battleline.

Ergo I suggested 'Fireknives' - you have the potential to do damage to almost any vehicle with massed Strength 7 (or is it 8 for Missile Pods?), and can kill very heavily armoured units with massed AP 2, or put dents in hordes with 4 mid-strength shots per model.

Here's the best way to use Farsight. Make a display case and put him inside it.

J/k, but seriously I never saw the benefit of taking a few extra suits compared to the nerf he brings. I know most people base their fluff around him, but most never use him as he is just a crisis suit with a power weapon.

He is actually really good, or rather he WOULD be really good if he didn't have Breakaway Faction. He's not actually that bad in combat per se, not on par with Kharn or Skulltaker but what are you asking for, miracles? AFIK, though, that rule doesn't really affect Apocalypse games as you can take him and his bodyguard along with two units of troops seperate to your own army, and then group the rest of your army together as a different force.
