Default 500 point balanced tyranids

Hey guys, long time since ive needed to make a tyranid list. What my friend and i are doing is we are playing a series of 500 point battles and give advice to eachother at the end of each one. Normally I would use my version of the cookie cutter lists (termigaunts, tervigons, hive guard, biovores, etc). The problem im facing is that i cant scale down the list to 500 points, as gons get fairly expensive. What I'm wondering is if there is an effective 500 point nids list that people know of, or can create. I want it to be fairly balanced, as my opponent will be using an assortment of shooting, CC and mech lists. What i'm thinking of is along the lines of:

Tyrant Prime w/ boneswords 100
3 Hive Guard 150
50 termigaunts 250

Very Very Very rough draft. Would love advise as to how to craft a tiny nids army. Problems im seeing: only 1 synapse model. Very little anti tank (only 3 hive guard). Doesnt seem very coherent.

Thanks in advance

My 500 point tyranid list consists of 2 groups of 30 termagaunts and a tyranid prime with a deathspitter and adrenal glands for each termagaunt squad. It overwhelms the enemy and has decent Anti-Tank.

Yours is pretty legit, but 3 hive guard is a bit much. I would bring 2 and use the extra 50 points for more termagaunts. You act as though 3 is not enough, but it is enough... It's more than enough.

With this, do you mean the tyranid prime has a deathspitter and adrenal glands, and there is 1 per squad. OR do you mean the prime has a deathspitter, and the adrenal glands are for the termagaunts? Also, how would this list fair against DE, Tau, Orks or IG?

Tyranid prime
Adrenal Glands
Deathspitter

Tyranid prime
Adrenal GTlands
deathspitter

30 termagaunts

30 termagaunts

each tyranid prime joins up with a termagaunts squad. Sorry for the confusing way I worded that.

My issue with that is you're quite short range, and very slow.
In 500pts, at least DE and IG can be fully embarked, and shoot you down peacefully.
Thus, the hive guards are definitely good and needed! I would do several squads, though.
So your first list is fine by me.

Another path to look at might be a very mobile force, with a Mortrex, flying warriors (forgot the name) and gargoyles. With that you have anti light tank, and very mobile.
As for troops, I'd go with some termagaunts for the minimum price.

This list should work well.
Two propositions, though :

- Put some bone swords to your primes in case you meet some power armours or equivalent
- Could replace the 2 primes with a tervigon, protecting the little dangerous buggers. Perhaps more effective against weak troops such IG, Taus or DE?

But once again, your list should work well

Im trying to avoid tervigons at this point lvl, just cause they are 160ish points base. For one support model, eh, rather go with the 2 primes. Taking ur boneswords idea thou.

Tyranid prime
Boneswords
Deathspitter

Tyranid prime
Boneswords
deathspitter

20 termagaunts

20 termagaunts

1 hive guard

1 hive guard

I think Arcticors list is pretty good as it stands. The boneswords to the primes will definitely help, though.

Btw that winged 500pt theme list looks like a great kill team list. 15 naked gargoyles, a mortrex and 5 shrikes. My new kill team list. Thanks Ledo.

Yup, at that points to have about a third of your army in on fig is a bit delicate. The list is good like that. Hope it will go well!

As for the kill team, I don't exactly know what that is, but I'm happy I inspired you
