Default Best imperial guard allies units for tau?

So, I'm looking to include some imperial guard allies into my 1250 list. And having no prior experience with guard, I don't know what, apart from marbo cheesespam of course
And I'll be using my gaurd as gue'vesa for fluff, although I'm worried about unique characters as I'll just have them as tau count as, so a elite tau pathfinder for marbo maybe.
Ps I wasn't sure if this went in tau or guard lists, so please move if I'm wrong

EDIT: I'm also toying with elysians(sp.?) as they would fit fluffwise with the tau maunverablilty and those good I think
EDIT II: also, which book are the elysians

........
Did you know that if you say 'gullible' slowly, it sounds like 'oranges'

Elysians were in IA 3 alongside the Tau Fi stuff, don't know if they are in other books though.

In my opinion the vendetta is the best flyer in the game for it's points, fits with the elysian theme, and that way you can allocate the points spent on the tau flyers towards other things.

Could take a hellhound, could even model it from a devilfish, call it a hellfish!

(completely ignoring fluff here- I simply don't know enough about Tau fluff)

At 1250pts I would probably not go for guard allies as you'll need to spend a couple hundred on troops and HQ before you add in fun things... but if pts are no issue I would take this:

Primaris Psyker- psychic support you wouldn't otherwise have
Veterans- loaded with plasma or melta depending on what you need
Vendetta- easily the best anti-tank/anti-flyer flyer and can trasport your vets (and hq) to where you need.
Marbo- because he's immense

That's about 400pts and leaves you a heavy support option (I love griffons just to blast the shit out of whatever you need) but if you want massive impact from your allies then adding in a manticore isn't a bad plan: giving the vets demolitions would then mean that for ~550pts you would be potentially getting 5 S9-10 large blasts for 1 turn plus 3 TLLC, 3 plasmaguns/meltas and your psychic powers.
Alternatively, if worried by TEQs you could take a Leman Russ Exterminator for its plasmacannons... damn the IG dex has some shiny toys

Im having alot of success with allied IG:

Company command
2x Infantry platoon with Platoon commands and 3 Infantry squads, 1 with a vox caster and all 3 sergeants have power axes and melta bombs
Vendetta
Manticore

Mind you i take that in 1850. As much as a Hellfish sounds cool, Tau have no need for it because markerlights can avoid cover to and then your still firing the correct weapon at the correct squad
