Eldar Phoenix Lord resurrection.
I was discussing Trazyn the Infinite's special ability (the one where on a 2+ you can replace another model with him if he dies) with my friend. And I got to wondering, why don't the Eldar Phoenix Lords have this? It would fit the fluff really well (in the codex, it says when a Lord dies, someone else just picks up their armor and becomes them), and make them much more useful. I was thinking something like this:
When a Phoenix Lord dies, once per game you may immediately roll a D6 for one squad of their aspect that has a model within 6" of them that has an Exarch (this may be done if the Lord is in the unit, or a in a different unit). On a roll of 2+, the squad's Exarch is removed from the table and replaced with the Phoenix Lord (they are considered to be joined with the squad, but may leave when able).
This doesn't seem too overpowered to me, as it can only be done once per game, and only under the right circumstances (not to mention you need to give up a model and need to roll a D6). Maybe with one less wound, or only on a 3+? (I don't know the specifics of Trazyn's rule, so I'm not sure how this stacks up in comparison) It would go a long way in legitimizing the point cost of all the Phoenix Lords, and be just plain cool. Of course, I'd also be happy if Lords were just made a Unique unit upgrade with variable wargear in the next codex.
I have a sizable Eldar force, but now I'm building Space Wolves for 6th. Thinking of doing it as a Project Log, please message me w/tips, ideas, or just things you'd like to see!
