Space marine 2000 point list.

Hi, I'm new and I thought I'd post a list. Here's my newbie Space Marine list. Enjoy!

HQ- Chapter Master-Thunder hammer, Storm shield, Melta bombs, Artificer armour- 190

Troop- 10x SM- Sergeant, Melta, Melta bombs-175

Troop- 10x SM- Sergeant, Melta, Melta bombs-175

Elites- 9x Terminators Assault cannon 2 Chainfist-400

Elites-Dreadnought- Multi-melta, DCCW- 105

Elites-Dreadnought- Assault Cannon, DCCW- 115

Fast Attack- Land Speeder, Typhoon Missle launcher, Multi-Melta- 110

Fast Attack- Bike Squad, Sergeant with PF, Axe , Power Sword - 150

Heavy Support-Devastator Squad- LC,PC,HB,ML - 180

Heavy Support-Devastator Squad- LC,ML,ML,HB - 170


Please give some good feedback, Remember I'm new to 40k.

For the devastator squads either give them all the same upgrades (i.e. 4 LC) or 2 different types (i.e. 2 LC and 2 PC). The dread w/ MM should have a drop pod (drop in as close to enemy vehicles[higher the armor the better]). Your troops should have rhinos. you should have at least 1 more squad of troops. You should add a few more troops to the devastators so when hit less chance of losing special weapons.

thats not bad at all, lol i lose many games, so your doing pretty good

this is a good start. you need to do something with the termies in the sense of transportation, since foot slogging it will get them killed by the time they can be effective.

given the amt. of ELITE choices that you have, getting rid of them for upgrades would not be a bad idea, if you could do it.

i dont understand this; i'm reading it as a power fist, a power sword, and an axe.

you should also consider re arranging your fast attack choices into two squad of attack bikes w/2-3 bikes each (preferably two) or maybe go with 3 LS squadron w/on LS in each.

this is really a very good first attempt, and don't think we're dogging you for being new. i think all players like to nitpick lists.

maybe get rid of a few termies to throw in a transport for the termies as this would help you out a bit

I would replace this guy with Lysander. For 10pts more, you get rerolling bolters and then you can stick him in the terminator squad for storm bolter fun.

You have a melta and meltabombs, but no way of getting to your enemy. This is bad. They need transports. Also, take your free heavy weapon. Missile launchers are good and multipurposed.

Find points to get another terminator so that you can take a second special weapon. 2x cyclone missile launchers would be fantastic (they will outdo an assault cannon, in any case). I would probably take a single dread with ML/TLLC instead of the 2 you have there. This will save you some points for your additional terminator/cyclone ML.

Typhoons are expensive. You can nearly get 2 MM/HF speeders for the same cost, and they're better at killing both armor and horde than a typhoon. The bike squad is too small to be a real threat to anyone, so I would drop it.

Like others have said, group like weapons together. Lascannons are also way too expensive in devastator squads. I would probably drop one squad of devs for a heavy support tank or two.

I love your way of thinking sooch the only thing, I would take vindicators. they are good and you dont have to guess range. plus think about it 10-2 heavy blast marker instant deathing alot of things in its way. Sure whirlwinds may hide behind cover but you have to guess and its a pain. And if a Chaos had a whirlwind, I'd charge vindicators and rip it apart.

Hold on to your gun tightly soldier, for it is your only friend in this world of war.

dont be afraid of troop choices unless you dont play objective based game then you only need two. some sniper scouts to hold home objectives and drop pods for you tactical squads. then you could use razorbacks for support and you could take out a few dreads for some sternguard in a drop pod
