Icon 2000 pts - Dakka Dak... wait, wrong race.

Classic SM - unsubtle.
Total - 1995pts, 17 KPs(!), 4 Troops, 9 MLs, 4 TLACs; everything can outflank, Tigrius gets them there on roughly the same turn.

HQ - 390

Tac Squad A - 10x Marines; Meltagun, Multi-melta, PFist, Rhino

Tac Squad B - 10x Marines; Meltagun, Multi-melta, PFist, Rhino

Tac Squad C - 5x Marines; PWeapon, RzBck w/Heavy Flamer

Scout Squad - 5x Scouts; 4x Sniper Rifles, 1x Missile Launcher

Fast - 430
Vanguard Vet. A - 5x Vets; 1x Thunder Hammer, RzBck w/Assault Cannon

Vanguard Vet. B - 5x Vets; 1x Thunder Hammer, RzBck w/Assault Cannon

Heavy - 450
Devo Squad A - 5x Devastators; 4x MLs, RzBck w/Assault Cannon

Devo Squad B - 5x Devastators; 4x MLs, RzBck w/Assault Cannon


Each HQ hangs out with a Vanguard Veteran Squad.
Going Second: Outflank everything, shoot things. Maybe charge.
Going First: Castle in center ~ ish area, shoot things. Probably charge.

Should I replace Vets w/ Assault Termies and a LRRedeemer? It would put 1/3 of the armies points in one place, but makes a nice death-star and cuts 2 KPs... I'd need to find 5 points somewhere though.

Thoughts?

First up Tiggy is definitely not worth his points as he has no invulnerable save, and can be one-shotted if you're unlucky. You'd be better off with an epistolary, maybe in termie armour with a SS, but I don't think that would fit your list.

Troops - 725

HF is a waste as your probably won't get close enough to use it. Either stick with the HB, or maybe upgrade to las/plas.

Vanguard vets are hideously overpriced for what they do, and often can't even fulfill that task. The issue is they're too vulnerable against dedicated CC units due to their standard statline and lack of invulnerable saves, not to mention the low squad size. Save your points.

Heavy - 450

If you're going with this, then get las/plas instead of assault cannons as then you're limited to 24" range. Personally I think autolas preds or vindicators are a better option as these guys are sort of pricey for what they do, and get outshot by Long Fangs.

Not taking out the devvies, you save 635 points. With this I would invest in two Typhoon speeders (individual squadrons) for more missiles (maybe take MM too). Then maybe a standard libby, or epistolary if you want. Then for the HQ buff unit, take a unit of 8 sternguard all with combis plus one power fist, all in a land raider redeemer w/ MM. This leaves you with 170 which could go on either a MM/HF dreadnought in a drop pod, or maybe a second sternguard squad in a rhino with two combi weapons. This list then gives you plenty of mid and long range shooting, with a core unit that has furious charge and hit & run, plus a librarian for assaulting. The libby should take Might of Ancients and Quickening for the best CC potential, especially against MCs and ICs.
